Buckle Up: There Will Be a Sixth Fast and the Furious Film

There will be a sixth film in the Fast and the Furious series, because Vin Diesel isn't done being quick and angry.

Fast Five, the fourth sequel to 2001's The Fast and the Furious is coming out in April, but star Vin Diesel and producer Neal Moritz are already working on another. Collider's Steve "Frosty" Weintraub interviewed Moritz and got the scoop on the upcoming sixth film. Moritz says he and Diesel "already know what the sixth movie is," and are on the verge of starting a draft. Weintraub asked the producer to elaborate a little, and Moritz acquiesced, "And we're starting to get serious about it right now. We just finished the movie like 4 or 5 weeks ago and we just needed a break, and now we're gonna start focusing on that."

Fast Five is the first film in the series to feature Dwayne Johnson (Be Cool, Southland Tales, The Scorpion King), who was reportedly excited about the ease with which his character could be spun off. Perhaps we have another multi-picture tough-guy franchise in the works?

Mortiz is a prolific producer, having worked on projects from I Know What You Did Last Summer, Cruel Intentions, xXx, Evan Almighty, I Am Legend, and all five Fast and Furious movies, in addition to television shows such as Tru Calling, Prison Break, and The Big C. He has five films coming out this year in addition to Fast Five, including The Green Hornet and Battle: Los Angeles.

I'd complain, but, fast cars, bad guys and Vin Diesel.
They're the perfect rainy saturday evening films.

Cool, I suppose.
To be honest, I didn't even know there were 6 films in the series, so I might see this at some point. Maybe not.

I really like these movies, but has anyone else noticed that with every iteration (with the exception of Tokyo Drift I guess) the titles sound more and more like porn titles?

The Fast and The Furious, Too Fast Too Furious, Fast and Furious, Fast Five, I Reach Climax Quickly And Am Generally In A State of Displeasure While Doing So.

What idiots are still paying them money for these movies. No-one I know has watched more than a few minutes of any but the first 2!

You can't keep going to movies hoping it will be better than the last one, that just makes them produce another!

Don't take them seriously? Just enjoy them for what they are. Its a fun series to kick back and just watch.

Just like the title says. The cars are fast and the actors are furious. Who cares? 1 star of four

Hmm... xXx? That movie was amazing, yet the second one sucked. Way to kill off Vin Diesel, too. Now he is stuck making these movies... Then again, as long as it isn't as bad as Tokyo Drift was, guess I can't complain...

Oh, and the black cop guy, The Rock? I really can't take him serious anymore after that tooth fairy movie...

I didn't even know they'd made a fourth film, nevermind a fifth and now a sixth.

I predict this film will be decidedly middle-of-the-road and gross well at the box office.

Yup, got that.

I think less plot, more cars. Why the fuck are they doing that? Mind you, I haven't gotten around to seeing 4 yet.

Hah dragging a vault and using it to ram cop cars... epic.

I might have to go on a fast and furious binge before this comes out... the movies are so bad they're good!

Go for it! I fucking love these films. Eye candy at it's finest. Then again I am biased towards highly modified imports.

Wait what? Another xXx? How? In the second one Vin Diesel's character is said to have died. Oh well, I suppose they'll retcon that out of existence.

That said, I'll see both movies. But not in theaters.

I'm amazed a series can consistently maintain a very high level of badness and still be successful.
