Wonder Woman Gets Her Own Make-Up Line

If you've always wanted to look like Diana Prince (minus the spandex and the lasso), now's your chance.

Comic book characters are often considered role models for a number of different things: their dedication, their morals, and their willingness to roll around in radioactive waste in order to gain cool powers. One thing that tends to be ignored by the general public, though, is their make-up technique. However, a cosmetic company has recently revealed that it's releasing a line of macquillage based on DC Comics' pinnacle heroine Wonder Woman.

Make-up Art Cosmetics (AKA "M∙A∙C") has announced a new line of make-up that themed around the color scheme that Wonder Woman uses. At the moment, the make-up is due out sometime this Spring. According to MAC:

Wonder Woman has always known the importance of astounding accessories. For her collaboration with M∙A∙C, we've infused her sense and fantasy and wonder into a vivid collection of awe-inspiring accessories as fierce and feminine as the heroine herself. Bright, bold, superhuman designs in Makeup Bags - from radiant Red to Bulletproof Blue, Utility Belt Brush Sets, and exclusively online, the WW T-Shirt and Invincible Mirror. Shazam!

Usually, tie-ins like this are the result of a new movie or TV series, but it seems as though this is a stand-alone product. I'm clearly not a part of M∙A∙C's target audience, so the whole thing sounds a little silly to me. That said, marketing a cosmetic line for girls with a little bit of nerd appeal and silliness seems pretty fitting when it's associated with a comic book. There are definitely worse ideas out there.

Iron Man: Toy repulsor gauntlets and plastic masks.
Spider-Man: "Web Shooters" that fire silly string.
Batman: Too many bat-toys to count.
Wonder Woman: Cosmetics.

Huh.

That seems strange for wonder woman but I've seen worse product tie-ins.

MAC make high quality stuff, and their Alice in Wonderland eye palette is amazing. I'm jealous of the Americans who get this stuff in every department store. MAC is hard to get in my area D:

No, no, here's the worst tie-in product I've ever seen:

Reminds me of "Moonwalker."

Claymation Michael Jackson flees from fans by donning a shapeshifting rabbit costume that eventually removes itself from him, challenges him to a dance-off, and becomes a rock formation, winking at Jackson as he rides off into the sunset.

...what?

Doesn't that go against everything Wonder woman is? Doesn't she celebrate natural beauty over utilizing makeup to cover up one's flaws.
Uh, perhaps, except that few women are born with naturally occuring mascara and lipstick =P Wonder Woman doesn't have to wear makeup, because her natural beauty *is* makeup. That aside, I know what you mean, but I like the idea of popular fashion embracing something a little nerdy. Who knows, this makeup line might introduce a new generation of women to comic books?

What am I talking about, I neither wear makeup nor read comics... but still, I don't see a problem =)

Huh, using arguably the only superhero whose entire existence is about female empowerment to advertise a line of cosmetics. Is that ironic or not, cause I'm hard-pressed to tell...?

fairly sure she doesnt wear make up

reasonably sure there was a justice league episode where she wondered why women would even want to wear it

I was going to post something pretty nerdy and pessimistic that "proves" that wonder woman would be against this, but your positive attitude has weakened me.

Wonder woman is a interesting character, i was never a fan of her but i like her in the justice league and the various crossovers she has been in, and maybe this product will make some young women interested in the comics that have sold poorly.

I'm not sure what else wonder woman can produce.
Invisible toys or a rope with a noose?

So we didn't get a Wonder Woman tv show but a range of cosmetics with the brand of a character eho relied on her own natural beauty rather than ever use them.
