Crackdown 2 Features 4-Player Co-Op, 16-Player Versus

Ruffian Games is doubling up on the number of people who can tear up Pacific City co-operatively or competitively in Crackdown 2.

Co-op in the original Crackdown was one of the most chaotically fun multiplayer experiences to be had on the Xbox 360 at the time of the game's release, but times have changed since then, and games like Left 4 Dead have shown that when it comes to working together, the more is very much the merrier.

Crackdown 2 dev Ruffian Games, then, is designing its game with that mentality in mind. According to the info on the game's official Xbox.com page [http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/c/crackdown2/], Crackdown 2 will double up on the multiplayer mayhem by allowing up to four players to work co-operatively in the game's campaign mode. Four-man contests to see who can throw a dead body the furthest off the bridge into the ocean? Yes please.

That's not where the multiplayer side of Crackdown 2 ends, however. In addition to co-op, Ruffian is adding a new competitive multiplayer element to the series with some sort of versus mode that'll hold from two to 16 players at a time. No details on what exactly this mode will be, but I imagine it'll involve lots of people jumping around trying to shoot each other out of the air.

I for one cannot wait to be corpse juggled and called an ethnic slur by some 12-year-old kid over Xbox Live who got their hands on a homing rocket launcher.

Not too crazy about the 16 player multiplayer, sounds like some lag in store for that. But I'm all for the 4 player co-op. I love me some co-op.

This may replace SR2 as the greatest co-op ever. Especially if you can go through an open world campaign in 4 player. And do everything else in co-op, too. Free mode for GTA had more players, but less to do...

Versus screams "Meh".

Cool. I can see me buying it. Just to play it a few times. Just for achievements probably.

That's the best part! Who doesn't love such tactical genius?

MYESMYESMYES!
Now the only thing that could make it better is split-screen.
Pretty please?

Why exacly are some people concerned about 16 player online? GTAIV(+TLAD) has 16 in free mode and I only suffer lag on few occations. If Crackdown 2 has a system to drop the complexity of the models used in-game or even just decrease the on screen density as more players join then it wont matter.

What I REALLY dont understand is why RTW arent makin it, after all MS took the massive gamble on Crack down, so why not 2?

If a Crackdown game that is actually fun and interesting to play is released, I really need no other appeal to try it out.

They should have a 4 player co-op survival mode against barrages of every gang at once. o_O That would truly be called Crackdown.

For the record, the people that are concerned about lag with 16 player online, look at Halo 3, CoD: MW, Killzone 2. Lag is only created by your own connection, sometimes others.

Ahh Crackdown how I've missed you. But 16 person multiplayer is worrying. If it works great, but I don't really see that happening. I hope it does though...

I had a fantasy rolling around in my head that there would be four player co-op, and I had a great idea to make it even better.
in the original, if you started the campaign with a friend, you could use different styles of skills, so you could be the gunner, and he could be the scout, or muscle. But eventually, you'd both upgrade and max out, and that kinda ruined an interesting "class" system they could have had.

That would be great if in the new game, you and your three friends could max out your skills, and then choose one or maybe two skills, and you would be able to access a whole new tier of those particular skills.
For instance, you max out all your skills, and your friends do to, but now you choose one skill, say strength, and now you got a few more levels unlocked for that skill that go beyond the default max. And your friends could choose other skills, like weapons and speed. But you can only choose one skill to do this with, so now your all maxed, but you each specialise in a particular area.
The Weapon guy is automatically getting headshots, he can duel wield, and has a context sesitive move thats shoots a bad guy trying to melee him without even pushing a button.
The Runner can tap into a super speed, super high jumps, or use bullet time.
The Strengh guy is almost indestructible, and can lift enormous things with no effort.
Maybe the extra skills like explosives and driving could be secondary tiers.

Vs on crackdown?,interesting if they use the jump height the right way there is some great soup but if they fail to use that it would be most disappointing.
Wonder if they ll add females agents this time,me and my friends just noted the lack there of.
