The Batmobile Rides Into Arkham City This October

Holy Arkham City release date, Batman!

Did you miss Rocksteady Studios' bigger and more ambitious [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/6467-Review-Batman-Arkham-Asylum] sequel.

Arkham City may be the first of many games to get a confirmed release date this PAX East weekend, and we can now circle October 18th on our calendars to plan ahead. The title will not have multiplayer [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107741-The-Rumors-of-Batman-Arkham-Citys-Multiplayer-Are-Greatly-Exaggerated], but if it's as atmospheric as the first game was, and if the combat and stealth sections are both as fluid and intuitive as they were the last time around, that's hardly a point against the game.

That's the North American release date, by the way. Aussies will have to wait until the 19th to pick it up - but they're in the future anyway so it doesn't count - and the game will hit European shelves on the 21st.

Really, there's not much more news here. Arkham City is coming out on October 18th(/19th/21st), that's about it. Mark the date and prepare to beat up some thugs in a beautiful ballet of kicking people in the face.

Well, this is good news. I had suspected the game was going to come out in november, and I would have to be forced to choose between this, Skyrim, and Uncharted 3. As it stands now, I will just have to choose between Skyrim and Uncharted 3 in November.

Not having multiplayer should never really be a point against a story driven game. Bioshock 2 didn't need a multiplayer at all, and I'm glad Rocksteady aren't caving for the sake of a multiplayer that there's no way in hell could work, given the mechanics of the game.

The only unforgivable crime is when multiplayer is added, but online only. Seriously, companies need to cut that shit out, if a game has multiplayer, make it splitscreen.

Lies! Just checked it out and by 9am AEST, the east coast in the States at least will have had it for 9 hours already, not assuming there is a midnight launch.

We're the one's in the future, why do we have to wait? Sad face.

I was expecting to read about the newly revealed Batmobile section in Arkham City. Getting a solid release date is better though, then reading about driving the most iconic vehicle in comics.

They already told us [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/105666-Batmobile-Staying-in-the-Garage-for-Arkham-City] it wouldn't be. I think it's for the best. I mean, when you have a decayed and cramped urban sprawl to explore, would you rather do it in the typical sneaky Batman style, or cruising in a way too big car for all those tiny alleys.

Same here, I'd thought Rocksteady went back on it's statement that one wouldn't be able to drive the Batmobile around the city. And why would one want to? You're friggin' Batman!
