Game of Thrones Food Carts Serving Up Fantasy Street Cuisine

Residents of New York and Los Angeles can eat like medieval royalty thanks to HBO.

here [http://www.amazon.com/Game-Thrones-Song-Ice-Fire/dp/0553386794/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1301158367&sr=8-1]), and the network is promoting its television adaptation in a very tasty way. HBO contracted a top chef to build a menu for a fleet of Game of Thrones food trucks that are hitting the streets for two weeks to give fans a taste of the show's world.

I wasn't kidding about the top chef thing. Tom Colicchio of cooking competition show Top Chef [http://www.amazon.com/Top-Chef-D-C-Complete-Season/dp/B004AUP3GW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1301158513&sr=8-4] says he created dishes that fit with the series' 5 different regions. For example, The Wall region is extremely cold, but bordered by the sea, so Colicchio created a Blackfish Stew. The Riverlands is more like your average fantasy forest, so Colicchio put together a Squab and Sweet Corn Fritter duo.

Colicchio said that if he could, he'd have served a spit-roasted whole goat, but that was too challenging to serve out of a food cart. Other dishes include rabbit, headcheese, and lemon cakes, which you can make at home with the recipe found here [http://www.makinggameofthrones.com/storage/got-lemon-cakes-recipe.pdf].

The best part is that the Game of Thrones food carts will be giving away their treats for free. From March 28-April 1, the carts will be in New York City. From April 4-8, they'll be in Los Angeles. Servings are limited to the first 300 guests, so start camping out now.

Haha that's actually a pretty cool and interesting way of marketing the show. Shame that, living in the U.K, I won't be able to come to either of them.

I, for one, am massively looking forward to it. By the way, thanks for linking the trailer in this, I hadn't seen it before and am now filled with even more eager anticipation.

Awwww man, I wish I lived close enough! That sounds delicious. Lemon cakes - Sansa's favorite!

I am really impressed by all the promotional stuff HBO is doing for this show. Hopefully, that means it will be very successful, and all the books will eventually be adapted!

EDIT: Oh sweet, there's a video now

I actually just started reading the book, and so far it's pretty good. Looking forward to the show too.
I might have to try that lemon cake recipe.

I just finished reading the first book, and by the gods, if this show is going to be half as good, I'm going to be a very happy man.

Never get this type of stuff in Central Ohio. Fuck, but I don't want to move to New York.

Niiiice.

Shame I live hundreds of miles from both cities. Why couldn't they do it Portland? We have more food carts than people here.

The series would also be a good time for Fantasy Flight Games to get in on the attention since they already have a game based on the stories.

This is not getting nearly enough publicity. Not the cuisine, I mean, but the adaptation. Now, if only Mr. Martin would work on the books....

Put your tap shoes on, because on July 12, you'll start A Dance with Dragons.

Why can't they do this kind of stuff in Portland?

I totally beat you in getting this up over at the Winter-is-coming User group.

I'm surprised there has been no mention of the RPG Cyanide studios is developing based off the books, a couple of people got a chance to play an early version and said that it was looking good so far.

I hope this doesn't suck, but I don't believe in hype, so HBO's Song of Ice and Fire is going to be a huge pile of donkey balls.
