Use Napalm Spells to Kill with Style in Magicka: Vietnam

The jokesters at Arrowhead Studios have made good on what seemed like a throwaway joke with DLC set in Vietnam.

When I saw $5 from all major digital distribution outlets [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/previews/8582-Hands-on-Magicka-Preview]. The game features a new magick called Napalm Strike that can be used with the dynamic casting system of the original.

All you need to do is read the PR copy to tell that this game is meant to be taken about as seriously as Geraldo in Libya [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL4AahgsHzY]:

Answer the call of duty to take up arms against the Goblin-Cong, trudging through a napalm-scorched battlefield with a bad company of up to four wizard GIs, and earn new medals of honor and achievements as you eliminate scores of enemies with not-so-wizardly machine guns and a new napalm Magick, liberate prisoners from POW camps, and escape to a Huey before it gets shot down by a pistol-all of this, of course, in your stylish robe fatigues and hood-friendly helmet.

Hopefully, the online co-op system has had all of its bugs ironed out so that you can experience the fun of playing Magicka: Vietnam with a friend. Because, if you can't trust your fellow fatigue-robed wizard when you're surrounded by Goblin-Cong, who can you trust?

Not just that!

Half price on Steam til 6pm1 tommorow (for us UK types)

I bought the full pack for me and a mate, yet, I never was that tempted to even buy the basic game at full price, I'm so damn swayed by steam sales, bought Bioshock 2, as well, I figure it's gotta give me a few hours for £3.50.

Whats also funny is that it parodies the Bad Company 2 cover art.

Made me laugh.

Hmm, it's either a Cannon Fodder rip-off or an homage. Have they mentioned the influence?

I've been wanting to try this game for a bit now and with both the core game, a little DLC, AND the vietnam pack on sale on steam for 8 bucks total? Yea alright.

I'll buy it for a high (low) price!

Man, this and the Humble Indie Bundle today are making me quite happy.

yikes. Many are still a bit sensitive about that war stateside. Tread carefully.
Atleast I can still appreciate it, right?

Napalm in the morning, Napalm in the evening, Napalm at supper time

Hmm, I can see the funny appeal of the game but can't that be seen as more subversive than if this setting had been dealt with in, say, a straight-laced FPS? Just thinking out loud.

Haha, awesome. Loving the main version so far. You actually get an M60 and a Rambo-themed achievement in that one too, so good.
