Metro 2033's Sequel May Get a New Name

New domain registrations hint at an alternate future for the already alternate-future FPS Metro 2033.

Remember how <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101776-THQ-Reveals-Metro-2034-In-3D>Metro 2033 has a sequel in the works? Well, It turns out that the game may not have the title Metro 2034. Instead, it turns out that the new game may be called Metro 2033: Last Light.

It turns out that Superannuation stumbled across some THQ domain registrations that refer to something with the aforementioned title. Amongst the domains is "lastlightgame.com" "metro2033lastlight.com" and "metrolastlight.com".

Now, it's well-known that <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108956-THQ-Teams-Up-With-Book-Publisher-To-Make-New-IPs>THQ recently teamed up with Random House in order to start working on new IPs and create various tie-in products for them. Metro 2033 was actually based <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Metro-2033-Dmitry-Glukhovsky/dp/0575086246/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1303154484&sr=1-1>a novel with the same name, so it's not unreasonable to assume that there might be another book in the works. That said, the "lastlightgame.com" registration certainly implies that there will be at least be an associated videogame.

I am looking forward to the next novel / game. I have yet to beat 2033, but that is mainly because I am not particularly good at FPS games.

Huh?

Metro 2034 [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dmitry_Glukhovsky#Metro_2034] already exists. It sits on my shelf in German. Been there for ages.

There is already a Metro 2034 in existance, it is a book and the sequel to the origial Metro 2033 novel. The sequel was already going to be called Metro 2034, no one has ever even considered calling it metro 2033 II.
This.
I highly doubt it'll be called Last Light, I bet that's some little side thing like Dead Space 2 had not too long ago. As in, a 'lil XBLA game.

I still have a feeling the sequel to that Russian beauty'll be based off the book's sequel, and appropirately titled Metro 2034.

Guess you didn't catch the sarcasm.

Ukranian.
Yes, but it's set in Russia.
And were you talking about the game or the book?
Because I mean the game which I know is made by a Ukranian dev, but I don't know if Dmitry Gluhovsky is Ukranian.

Massive love/hate relationship with that game, but I'm definitely buying any sequels provided they all have Ranger mode from the start. DOOM style bullet sponge enemies just aren't my thing.

I really enjoyed Metro 2033, so I really hope they make a sequel. I'd LOVE to see more from this series. I loved it.
