Thrilling Fan Trailer Turns Batman Into a Fevered Delusion

The Dark Knight meets Inception in the trailer for The Batman Complex.

As much as we wish it weren't true, we all know that Batman isn't real, and only exists in comics, movies and other Bat-media. But what if he was even less real, and only existed in the mind of a seriously troubled individual? That's the question that YouTube user "themanbatman [http://www.youtube.com/user/themanbatman]" in his homemade trailer for the totally fictional movie, "The Batman Complex."

The Batman Complex tells the story of Bruce, who undergoes an experimental psychotherapeutic treatment to help with his paranoid schizophrenia. The trailer seems to imply that this help involves planting a seed in the patient's mind that he is the Batman, which somehow helps the patient overcome their emotional and mental issues.

In order to create the trailer, themanbatman cut together sections from more than half a dozen movies, including, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Machinist, The Prestige and Inception. The Batman Complex features an all-star cast, including Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Leonardo DiCaprio. There's a surprising amount of overlap between their careers, which was no doubt quite handy when he was putting the trailer together.

This isn't the first time that themanbatman has created media for The Batman Complex: back in February he created a short teaser trailer [http://www.youtube.com/user/themanbatman#p/u/1/WnZRU8RahTY ]. He says that this longer trailer has less of a horror vibe than his previous efforts, and focuses not only on Bale's descent into madness, but DiCaprio's as well.

It's an interesting idea, and the trailer is very well done. It's just a shame that movie is entirely fictional, and is incredibly unlikely to ever be made. Ah well, we can dream, right?

That...actually sounds like a really good movie idea...
So, Hollywood, when are you gonna make it happen? ;)

Fucking great movies combined in a fucking great way, and also featuring a fucking great soundtrack.

Good work I'd say!

There is a Batman comic book sort of like this. It's actually my favourite Batman comic. I can never remember its name but I think it's called something like "Masks"? It's told in two parts with the narrative swapping between Batman tracking down the Joker and a mental patient being told by the doctor that he has developed paranoid schizophrenia and has delusions of being batman. It has a thought provoking ending too.

EDIT-Found it:

"Mask (39-40)

By Bryan Talbot

Batman wakes up in a hospital bed surrounded by Doctors who tell him he is an alcoholic bum who dresses in a batsuit made of garbage. Is it some sort of hallucination or is his life as Batman the real illusion?"

That was actually very well put together. Actually of all those movies, the only ones I have yet to see are The Machinist[i/] and Shutter Island, but otherwise I kept up quite well.

I would seriously watch this movie if it were real. The idea of DiCaprio and Bale, together... it makes me want to say this:

PS: My Captcha is rediculous: Markupper Isitio. When did Captcha's start sounding like RPG Characters?
