Rovio Builds Giant Real-Life (and Playable) Angry Birds Set

To celebrate the launch of the browser version of Angry Birds, developer Rovio set up a giant real-world version of the game in Terrassa, Spain.

Scientists estimate that within two years, Finnish developer Rovio will have ported its wildly popular mobile game Angry Birds to every device with a processor and video screen. I may have made that up just now, but seriously guys, Angry Birds is on everything short of your brand-new microwave oven.

Rovio's latest conquest was putting Angry Birds on the Google Chrome app store [http://chrome.angrybirds.com/] for browser-based play. To celebrate the launch on the popular web browser, Rovio's marketing department decided to let people in a city in Spain play the game for themselves - in real life.

I'm digging the live brass band rendition of the Angry Birds theme, and it's certainly a really cool set, but part of me is a tiny bit underwhelmed. I wanted to see some slingshot action, dammit, not tossing the balls from right atop the evil pigs' castle!

Though the fact that the pigs actually blow up like they do in the game is pretty damn neat.

That's really cool, I love the band playing, and the explosions are really interesting, I will admit I'm also kinda sad they didn't use the slingshot, but it's understandable why the would throw them instead of shooting them

This was much less cool once I saw that it's just a guy walking up and dropping a bird rock on top of the pigs. I was thinking there'd be a giant slingshot and aiming involved . [oops, just saw you mention that in the article]

Mostly I'm just wondering if those assclowns at Rovio will ever make another game, or just continuously milk Angry Birds until the end of time (Angry Birds - With Hats!). This is pretty good evidence that they just have money to burn at this point, so I guess they don't really have to make anything else.

And the fact that any reiteration of Angry Birds is almost guaranteed to make a lot of money.
I mean, tons of people love Angry Birds. Giving them new levels to complete gives the consumer what they want (Which is a metric fuckton of people) and makes the company money.
Yup, they are complete assclowns.

To tell the truth, I think I like Conan's version a little better with the real slingshot.

Never really saw the appeal of Angry Birds over a billion other trajectory games...

I bought the PS3/PSP version of Angry Birds. Fun as it is, it really should've gone through a bit more testing. If you notice once the level loads all the pieces "land". Apparently there's some space between the pieces and they settle after loading. Thing is, you can sit and wait and sometimes the level will eventually just collapse on its own and take some, many or all of the pigs with it.

1) Angry birds continues to shock me with its protrusion into standard consciousness
2) I want that brass arrangement of the theme tune. I could totally play that, and it would be awesome!

The Chrome version is pretty good, not worth not being able to block ads,but still fun. The levels in the first chapter are different than what you might remember and the Chrome Dimension adds a new challenge to the game.

How about FlashBlock? https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gofhjkjmkpinhpoiabjplobcaignabnl
No,no,no. I mean like when you try to watch a video and an ad happens before it.

At the moment it only does that on youtube... Those ads are HARD to block
So I guess Firefox is still going to be my main browser for now
