Dragon Age PC System Requirements Pretty Hefty

Want to play Dragon Age: Origins on your PC? Well, the system requirements are out, and they're not easy.

No fancy lead-in or wisecracks here. Just the nitty-gritty:

[blockquote]Windows XP Minimum Specifications
OS: Windows XP with SP3
CPU: Intel Core 2 (or equivalent) running at 1.4Ghz or greater
AMD X2 (or equivalent) running at 1.8Ghz or greater
RAM: 1GB or more
Video: ATI Radeon X850 128MB or greater
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT 128MB or greater
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space

Windows Vista Minimum Specifications
OS: Windows Vista with SP1
CPU: Intel Core 2 (or equivalent) running at 1.6Ghz or greater
AMD X2 (or equivalent) running at 2.2GHZ or greater
RAM: 1.5 GB or more
Video: ATI Radeon X1550 256MB or greater
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256MB or greater
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space

Recommended Specifications
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz Processor or equivalent
RAM: 4 GB (Vista) or 2 GB (XP)
Video: ATI 3850 512 MB or greater
NVIDIA 8800GTS 512 MB or greater
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space[/blockquote]

Minimum specs aren't bad, but the Recommended ones... well, for comparison, here are Crysis' requirements:

[blockquote]Recommended System Requirements
OS - Windows XP / Vista
Processor - Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Memory - 2.0 GB RAM
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar

Minimum System Requirements
OS - Windows XP or Windows Vista
Processor - 2.8 GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2 GHz or faster* (Vista)
Memory - 1.0 GB RAM (XP) or 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)
Video Card -256 MB**
Hard Drive - 12GB
Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible[/blockquote]

The worst part, though? A whopping 20GB worth of drive space. Ouch.

Damn. Guess I am going to have to upgrade if I want to play this. To be fair though, I've needed to upgrade for quite some time. I actually meet the minimum specs in every area except CPU, albeit only just.

I have a 2Ghz single-core processor.

Wow that is pretty big. Looks like a lot of people will be playing on some kind of, low and medium combination.

What I like about this is that it's showing all those resources it's using. I expect this game to be epic now

Also, I can run it, but it still recommends a core 2 quad and a 512 8800.

Oh, and I have a 1 terabyte hard drive, bring on the 50 gig games!

Oh well, I was looking forward to buying this for my Mac/PC (my first computer game in a long time), but I guess I'll do the 360 version again.

No toolset for me...

Ya know after seeing big requirements like this I'm actually worried about the console versions. Will they get watered down?

I think it's pretty safe to say my 1.5GHz Core 2 Duo and on board x3100 will not run this. I also only have 16 gig of space free... WHERE HAS ALL THAT SPACE GONE!

Good thing I have a 360 to play Dragon Age on, eh? :p
I wonder how many DVDs you will have to swap around or install on your disk.

Suck my balls, I am not buying this game, Bioware. No, I won't. Prototype has requirements like that, but it's an Open World game. Mass Effect isn't, and has a lot lower requirements, what gives?

edit: FOUR GB OF RAM? ARE YOU INSANE? You are basically making a requirement "64-bit OS!".

I was hoping for a huge disc space requirement. Hopefully this will be a game as epic as Baldur's Gate 2 was.

Looks like my lappy should be able to play this on minimum and that's good enough for me.

Christ the only computer that can run this game is one that government has in the center of the earth to control our minds. 4 gigs of RAM. Are you serious? I can run Crysis on ultra high with 2, what makes this game so taxing on a system. (I'll bet goblin stripers)

Its not as bad as age of conan. That heap of a game required 30 gigs of space ><

Depending on how accurate those reccomended specs are, I'm probably looking at running this on medium. High if I'm lucky. Very high looks doubtful. Also, my PC is several years old.

I am so glad I went all out when I upgraded.

Tasty. I guess they're expecting the bulk of sales on the 360, & giving those PC people who have godly machines the opportunity to play it in zomgmegadef mode

Yeah, that's one of the reasons few people actually play it now.

I meet all the recommended specs except processor, I have 2.6GHz dual core, so at least I meet minimum for that.

P.S. Thanks
