Iron Sky Needs Your Help [But Not Your Money]

The Iron Sky [http://www.ironsky.net/] team is looking for help designing the "Indian spaceship" that will appear in the upcoming film about Nazi invaders from the moon.

In 1945, the Nazis went to the moon. In 2018... they're coming back. This is the setup for Iron Sky, a new sci-fi/comedy coming from the fine Finnish folks who gave us the amusing and very strange Star Trek-Bablyon 5 crossover parody Udo Kier [http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wreck-Samuli-Torssonen/dp/B002OKK2AW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311364066&sr=8-1].

The deadline is approaching but there's still much to be done, so now the production team is reaching out to fans for help. It would seem that in the alternate-near-future in which the movie is set, the Nazis aren't the only ones with spaceships. The Earth has a fleet too, made up of ships from various nations, each vessel representative of the nation that designed and built it. That's where you come in: the producers are looking for design ideas for the Indian ship and it's thrown the doors open to suggestions from everyone.

Submissions can range from rough sketches to detailed 3D models and the rules are fairly loose. "Tech level is higher than today's world, but still not Star Trek," director Timo Vuorensola explained. "Comedy level is subtle, yet the fact that the ship is Indian can be visible. Whatever that means - you decide."

A mockup of a Japanese ship [http://www.wreckamovie.com/system/task_references/0000/2039/nippon-6copy.jpg] is provided as a guideline and it's actually pretty cool: badass yet funny, and distinctly Japanese. I just wish I knew what that mission logo was saying.

If you think you've got what it takes to design India's contribution to the war effort in space, head over to wreckamovie.com [http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/2217] to have a look at the details and give them your ideas. Iron Sky is slated for release on April 4, 2012.

I have been excited for this movie since I first heard of it. Udo Kier has been one of my all-time favourite actors since I played Red Alert 2 and watched Critical Mass and Blade within days of each other. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE!!!

Another "task" by the same guys. :D Thought I'd share after reading the article.

"At the moment, the Japanese writing is just a mocup, we don't even know what it says to be honest.

But we'd like you to help us out. What is it that the Turtle and the Pink Bunny say. Something in the Kanji, maybe a haiku that fits on the war machine or something. Or something ridiculously pompous, like "Together, we march to the better future."
