New Uncharted 3 Screens Show Off Multiplayer Playgrounds

You have to give Nathan Drake credit: He never fights in boring places.

Uncharted 3 [http://www.amazon.com/Uncharted-3-Drakes-Deception-Playstation/dp/B004EQCCI4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313665200&sr=8-1] won't just be about infiltrating airfields, sneaking onto planes and nearly drowning [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/112366-Nathan-Drake-Gets-Airborne-Shows-Tender-Side-in-New-Uncharted-3-Trailer] in battered ships in the single player game, there's also going to be the opportunity to pit your skills against other players online, to see who's the best wise-cracking treasure hunter around.

These new screens show off some of the far-flung locales in which you will do battle with your rivals. The first level is a distinctly Middle Eastern looking abandoned desert village, and the second is a labyrinthine, dilapidated high rise with a neon sign proclaiming it to be the "Hotel Xanadu." As you might expect, both levels are multi-leveled affairs with lots of cover to hide behind and gaps to leap.

The two new levels join the previously revealed Airfield and Chateau multiplayer maps, on which players will be able to enjoy in a variety of multiplayer modes, some new, some old. The Three Team Deathmatch, where three teams of two players fight amongst themselves, sounds particularly interesting.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception comes out for PS3 on November 1st.

I love these games, and I loved the multiplayer of the last. And I am still super excited for this one.

That being said, I'm kinda worried about the aesthetics. The previous games' had stunning, colorful, varied environments at every turn. Going from the jungles to the vibrant cities to the ice caves.

But this is the browniest of brown n' bloom.

It fits in the cool setting they have picked, but I'm just kinda saddened that one of the prettiest game series is becoming so much less interesting like this.

I'll admit, for a few seconds I thought that first screen was a photo.

Xa-na-du...

So I like Rush. Sue me.

However, that's a blatant reference for anyone who knows that I'm talking about. While I really doubt that will be coming up in this game, (deserts and all, after all) there's a considerable degree of similarity between Xanadu and Shangri-La of the second. So is this just an acknowledgement of that? Or maybe a teaser!

Yeah, I doubt it, too.

Edit: So apparently...I'm wrong. Xanadu and Shangri-La and pretty well interchangeable.

Isn't the second map shown in the screenshots the High Rise map found on one of the U2:AT DLC's? At least it looks exactly the same, although this time during night.
