Zelda Fans Get a Golden Opportunity

A golden sword would be impractical, but a golden Wii remote can help adventurers conquer Link's latest adventure.

Alfred, Lord Tennyson once advised his readers to "ring out the narrowing lust of gold." Fans of The Legend of Zelda can safely ignore his advice. Retailers will sell a special $70-bundle for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword [http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Skyward-Sword-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002BSC54I] that comes with a golden, Triforce-emblazoned Wii Remote Plus. Furthermore, every copy of the game's first printing will come with a bonus soundtrack disc.

Zelda fans are no strangers to golden promotional items. The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask all had gold-colored cartridges to commemorate the latest installment in Link's chronologically-confusing story. However, disc-based media proved a little harder to gild. While Wind Waker and Twilight Princess featured golden artwork on their discs, there was no way to make an entire disc look like it came from a Hyrulean treasure chest. The remote seems like a fair workaround.

Between the verdant protagonist, the eclectic gadgets, and the golden memorabilia, Link's latest adventure looks to be upholding all the tenets of its longstanding franchise. Skyward Sword will continue the Zelda legacy, in terms of both game design and promotions, on November 20, 2011.

Even though I don' really need another controller, ME WANT!!! However, the best Zelda promotion ever (imo) was when they released a Golden GBA SP when Minsh Cap was launch. Still have it and still shiny.

That would actually be worth it for me. I'm definitely getting this game on release, and my Wiimotes are both in shiiiiiittty condition.

Do you know what's sad. At 70 dollars, this is still cheaper than buying the game as-is in Sweden, or the Wii-mote separately, in most stores.
Yes, you read right, I'd have to pay more than twice that for a Wii-mote and the game in Sweden, and I wouldn't even get my cool Wii-mote Zelda style

Only $70 for new Zelda and a golden Wii-mote? Damn that sounds like it would be worth the expense, it's a shame the only Wii in my house belongs to my sister and i'll be off to college soon.

I actually got really excited for a moment for this reason (except I'm in Australia). Then I remembered it'll be far more for me... Pity, it's a pretty awesome Wii-mote. And I still don't have the plus extension...

If I have money when this rolls around, and if it even rolls around in Australia, I will pick it up though. Both those events seem pretty unlikely.

I was wondering when this type of thing would make a comeback.

Though i have to admit, i'd like to get one. I saw a golden LoZ cartridge in a salvation army my grandmother manages and it would be nice to have a past/present feel.

I may talk a lot of shit about the wii but for 70 bucks I can get a motion plus I am guessing and the new zelda?

My real question is what will the special edition condom look like? if you don't roll on the condom your remote will demolish your house, fact.

Ribbed? Glow in the dark(navi)? Magnum XL(Biggoron sword)? Deku nut flavored?

Wow, that is really cool! I especially like the soundtrack, it's value enough to buy the whole thing!

Eh. The only console Legend of Zelda I don't care for. Hope other people enjoy it though.

If it gets to Sweden we'll maybe get away with a price cut, normally us swedes don't complain if the price in the USD equals 10x he price in SEK(Swedish Krona)
So a 1 dollar item would go for about 10 SEK, roughly 1,5 dollars, but we have awesome healthcare and school-scholarships, so it's a fair trade.
With games it's 60 dollars= 700 SEK, so already we are a bit whiny. But if they try and sell us a 70$ item for 1250, I think it'd be to obvious we're paying overprice, so maybe we at least could get a good deal on a controller and an awesome game

I need the controller...and the OST and price are nice.

The only problem? THIS GAME COMES OUT AFTER SKYRIM.

So, yeah. Sorry, Nintendo.

I'd be glad to buy the Wii's swan song, but I'm going to have to hold off from the shiny version.

Well, Nintendo screwed the pooch with the Mario and Metroid anniversaries (you would think that they would care a lot more), so I suppose a token offering "special edition" of the Last Actual Wii Game is par for the course.
