Inventive Geek Crafts DIY Wrist Crossbow

What it lacks in safety features, Patrick Priebe's homemade crossbow gauntlet more than makes up for in silent assassin cred.

The "wristbow," which Priebe claims is entirely handcrafted, fires carbon fiber bolts with steel tips, features a battery-powered laser sight and as you can see from the embedded clip, is quite capable of punching neat holes in things.

Granted, the weapon only has a 9 foot range, and while it may be deadly to aluminum cans, I don't think anyone is going to be picking one up to assassinate their political rivals. Fortunately, if you feel differently, odds are solid that Mr. Priebe will be offering these wristbows for sale. Though he has a baffling grasp of historical myth ("Wilhelm Tell?" Really?), Priebe has earned a bit of internet notoriety for the intensely dangerous laser devices on offer through his website [http://www.laser-gadgets.com/], and like this bow, those too started as simple DIY projects.

Alternately, if you're an inventive sort, Priebe says he will be offering up the plans for this device via Instructables [http://www.instructables.com/] shortly. Kids, try not to shoot yourself in the sexy bits.

Likewise, we cannot condone the senseless murder of aluminum cans, balloons or lightbulbs. We can however condone kittens [https://www.google.com/search?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial&tbm=isch&q=adorable+kitten&revid=388143546&sa=X&ei=V--yToqsJqmjiQL1qJRg&ved=0CEIQ1QIoBQ&biw=1188&bih=686].)

Seeing as the range is three meters you may as well just stab them with the bolt.

Of course, I don't condone this action either.

Looks pretty swish though, couple this with the spring loaded Assassin's Hidden blade I saw a video of a while ago and you're on the path to a downgraded Ezio.

I like how this article about hand-crossbows has a disclaimer warning against it. And then in the same article there is a link to a site to buy PULSE HAND LASER GUNS KITS!

Still, mini assassin crossbows are always cool!

good so all I need to do is become a gymnast, a climber, and a learn how to counter everything... it's probably easier to build an animus machine :/

Nor can I condone sharpened versions of those darts tipped with Ricin or other lethal toxins that would make them much more effective.

Wilhelm Tell would be accurate. Wilhelm is German for William.

OT: so... when do we get Batman?

Looks very cool, but I still think AC's hidden blade is better

Considering most defensive handgun training takes place at 7 - 9 meters, I'd say that's plenty depending on the purpose of use.

I think with a few tightly packed compound modifications, you could increase the power and range for a bit of increased weight. Maybe counterbalance it with a forearm guard, so that it'd be also useful for hand to hand combat. It would reduce the usefulness in a situation involving high speed parkour, though.

(but gee, why would you need to punch a hole through drywall anyway)

Replace the crossbow part with a deadly pulse laser and we can talk about me buying one...

With proper investment and the use of more durable and powerful springs, this thing can be a legit assassin's weapon.

As some have said before me this could be a very plausible little weapon given the right modification.

My only problem is I simply could not use it without dressing like Ezio and in modern Britain... well... my mark would notice me.

God damn. Does this guy have a contract with defense department or something? If he doesn't then he should be cause the guy has a very useful talent.

After the laser gadets, this is a step backwards but that being said it is still cool. All he needs to do now is copy Ezio's wrist mounted pistol and then he can be a true assassin.

uhm... I made my last wrist-crossbow from lego at age 12. Had about the same range, but not exactly the punch...

It's a gizmo... plain and simple. Anything you could achieve with it, could be done more efficient with a handgun or a melee weapon.
