Check Out This New Game of Thrones Trailer

A new production trailer from the set of A Game Of Thrones Season 2 shows off new scenes, characters, and locales.

We're pretty big fans of <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/tag/game+of+thrones>Game Of Thrones here at The Escapist, and we've all been breathlessly waiting for new details about the second season of the show. Thankfully, HBO's just released a new production trailer that gives a behind-the-scenes look at what the new season will contain, and sharp-eyed fans will be able to pick up some new details about what's in store next April.

As one of the producers says at the start of the video, "the world just expanded enormously." He's not kidding, as Screen Rant points out:

It's good to see familiar characters like Ayra Stark (Maisi Williams), Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Cersei Lannister (Lena Heady), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Lord Baelish (Aidan Gillen), and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), along with glimpses of new characters (or those not yet fully explored) such as Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane), the sorceress Melisandre (Carice van Houten), Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) and the fearsome Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance who surely needs more screen time this season).

Season 2 is set to premiere on HBO this coming April, presumably around the same time that the <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Game-Thrones-Complete-First-Season/dp/B002IFT1ZA/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1321912609&sr=1-1>first season will actually be released on DVD.

I couldn't spot Melisandre in there, which makes me a sad geek. Still, Renly's crown is pimpin'.
I haven't read the books but I've practically memorized the first season and I've never seen the redhead at 00:16. Maybe that's her?

OT: Can't wait for this season. Snow's my favorite character and I've been longing to see more of what was beyond the Wall since the first episode's teaser. Glad that it looks like that'll have a decent focus for the second season.

Well Renly's beard is looking better...oh god, it's because it ate Stannis' beard! Team Stannis all the way for me. I was hoping that he'd keep his beard, but whatever, could be that he'll grow it in the third season after...certain events in the second.

Pretty obvious which characters are in this preview though. Melisandre is the red-haired woman obviously, Theon's talking to either his uncle or his father and there's Davos at the end with his pouch of finger bones around his neck. The scene with Sam and Jon also shows that we're probably going to see Craster's Keep. I hope for Qhorin Halfhand as well. Most people are complaining that there's no Reeds though.

I finished the 2nd book, A Clash of Kings, literally just yesterday and I'm really excited for Season 2! I'm also very excited to read A Storm of Swords!

If Jon's your favorite character and if you haven't read the books, you'll be REALLY wanting for them to hurry up with the 3rd Season then...

/ominous.

(Seriously, the shit that'll happen in the finale... Goddamn!)

Charles Dance was awesome as Tywin Lannister, I hope he gets a lot more screen time. Wasnt Season/book 2 where we meet the Bloody Companions as well?

Technically, yes. But HBO's named the show "Game of Thrones," so there y'go.

Sweet. Looking forward to it.

Kinda looks like Carice Van Houten is starting to get a bit typecast as a witch/sorceress; watch 'Black Death' , the movie, released last year, if you haven't already; lots of typecasting in that, including the not-quite-immortal Sean Bean.

That said, Game Of Thrones fans will probably really enjoy it, speaking from experience.

Somehow my first thought when I saw Joffrey with the crossbow was "Be careful, you'll shoot your eye out!". It's a credit to the guy who plays him that I would probably enjoy seeing that.

That's probably because it's safe to assume that you're the coolest ************ in any type of AsoIaF material, thus nothing needs to be said.

No, they named the television series "Game of Thrones" to slightly differentiate it from the book series, while still sticking to its roots.

They could have named each season after the book it is based upon. However, because that would likely cost them some viewers (because some viewers are morons, you see), they might as well stick with the name "Game of Thrones".

To be honest, even people reading the series are calling it the Games of Thrones series; at least that's the name that my librarian recognized when I tried to get the 3rd book in the series.

Also, Game of Thrones sounds cool and original while Fire and Ice titles are a dime a dozen in fantasy novels.

Don't remember that scene with Bronn in the woods, probably something that was implied to happen.

Also, wasn't there supposed to be lots of guys around when Stannis gets his new sword?

+1 Renly's crown is pimping, I wonder how good it'll look when Melisandre is done with it.
