Resident Evil 6 Listed on Two Resumés, May Be Set in China

Prior to any annoucements from Capcom, Resident Evil 6 has appeared on two voice actors' resumés, one of which hints at Chinese connections. Rumor-mill, activate!

Up until now, all we knew about Resident Evil 6 was that Capcom is making the game and that one of its producers said it will be "totally different" [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109424-Capcom-Says-Resident-Evil-6-Will-Be-Different] to previous instalments. In the past two days, however, RE6 has appeared in two different actors' online resumés, launching the internet into a whirl of speculation about the game itself and whether or not it'll be set in China.

The first of the two resumés to be discovered belongs to one John Cappelletti, who had Resident Evil 6 listed as a voice credit on his resumé until yesterday, when the mention was removed without warning or comment. Luckily Siliconera [http://www.siliconera.com/2011/11/28/resident-evil-6-pops-up-on-voice-actors-credit-page/], who found the page, took a screenshot for posterity before the title was removed.

The second RE6 resumé cameo, as unearthed and screencapped by thesilentchief.com [http://thesilentchief.com/2011/11/30/will-resident-evil-6-take-place-in-china/], is on the page of a Chinese voice actress called Wendy Mok (whose past zombie work includes credits for Dead Island). Mok describes her role in RE6 as that of "Chinese villager/zombie," a descriptor which has fans wondering whether or not the game will be set in China.

No hints, rumors, resumé listings or other tidbits have surfaced regarding the game's release date, however. All we know right now that even Milla Jovovich, who has worked on Resident Evil films before, says Capcom won't tell her [http://twitter.com/#!/MillaJovovich/status/141632789245202432].

Having spoken of its wish to release RE6 as quickly as it could [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103216-Resident-Evil-6-News-Coming-Soon-Say-Capcom] in order to capitalize on gains made by Resident Evil 5 in 2010, it should come as no surprise that mentions of RE6 are popping up barely a year after the company spoke of those intentions. China doesn't seem like a bad location for a Resident Evil title; its massive cities and vast countryside would lend themselves well to either chilling, post-apocalyptic tension or all-out panic and mayhem fueled by the world's largest population. Mmm, delicious speculation!

As much fun as I had with RE5, the plot was atrocious. That it pretty much ended the series by killing off the main villain in the stupidest way possible was just the icing on the cake.

But that doesn't seem to be the case here, apparently.

Perhaps a misprint/misidentification of OP: Racoon City? Because that one's not even done, so starting voice acting might be a bit hasty, even for Capcom. Or maybe Capcom won't be happy until they've ethnically cleansed every major group at least once.

Got it: Whites, Spaniards, Blacks
Need it: Arabs, Asians, Native Peoples

honestly, a game set in China would be pretty cool

k I guess Army of Two 40th day was set in China but that didn't make full use of its location

Well RE5's story was drawn out crap, so i guess they're looking to draw out more crap in China? I'm betting the scenery use for China will either be: Cutting edge sprawling metropolis that looks like any another city from any other video game, or stereotypical places like, zombies at the Great Wall! Zombies in the Forbidden Palace! Zombies in some kind of asiany temple! Zombies generic rice patties! Zombies in China Disneyland!

I'm sure Japanese cops invading China to shoot hordes of Chinese zombies (not the hopping ones) in the name of the Greater Raccoon City Co-prosperity Sphere will be handled with complete sensitivity.

In China? Hooray! More unintended Racism for Yahtzee to berate!
I already thinking, "Hey now people can say how racist this game is since it will be all Asian!"

wow, so great (sarcasm). lets see how much different it will be compared to the other parts. part 4 sucked so hard, part 5 was nothing but a action shooter with monsters but at least better to play then this awful part 4.
now in china, im pretty sure the chinese will have a problem with that. after all, the japanese invaded china by force back in the 30s and 40s. my parents in law (since im married to a chinese woman) dont like them because of that. even when times have changed.

I started playing RE5 a month ago. I popped the disc in, I watched a couple of cutsc- BAM! A confusing gameplay and interface! I didn't know how to interact with my partner, I couldn't shoot and run, my partner was a dumbass, I was cornered...I just had to put down the controller and return the game. I'm all about avoiding tutorials because we're not dumb; we can figure out the game ourselves (Like Egoraptor says), but SOME areas should be explained before they toss you in the game so mercilessly. I'm looking at you too, Dead Space 2.

Anywho, back to topic. This is actually the first time I heard of RE6 and I was just wondering about that as I returned RE5. Honestly, I could care less what race these new zombies will be. They're zombies, not accurate representations of a white guy's everyday adventures (?). So if they can fix all that stated above, and then add a better, more coherent plot, then I'm sold.

But Capcom have always tried for a honest and accurate depiction of... *laughs* Sorry, I can?t finish that. I don?t think they are going to handle this well. *looks back to RE4&5* Definitely not the latter part of 5. *thinks about war paint and hut villages*

I did have fun with 4 and 5?s mercenaries mode was addictive. *scratches arm*

Since this game in all likelihood will be developed by a Japanese studio, I should hope the rest of the world doesn't have to remind Capcom that a zombie game set in China is a seriously bad idea in regards to their brand image:
