Fight Even More North Koreans In Homefront Ultimate Edition

Sometime soon, THQ is going to invade stores all over again with Homefront Ultimate Edition.

Even though <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Homefront-Xbox-360/dp/B003Q53VZC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326229944&sr=8-1>Homefront <a href=http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=homefront%20review%20site%3Aescapistmagazine.com&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CB4QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.escapistmagazine.com%2Farticles%2Fview%2Feditorials%2Freviews%2F8718-Homefront-Review&ei=IaAMT4C4KabWiALt1sH4Aw&usg=AFQjCNHbN9YOHX5uwkVY-rHSPlO1BqMw4A>wasn't the best game to come out this year, it certainly wasn't the worst. It also sold well enough to merit a sequel, though not well enough to actually save developer Kaos Studio <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/110991-THQ-Closes-Homefront-Studio>from being shuttered. That said, THQ has just revealed that it's going to release an "Ultimate Edition" of the game relatively soon.

A new release schedule from THQ includes Homefront Ultimate Edition, set to launch sometime before the end of the fiscal year (which ends on March 31st). Exactly what's included in the re-release hasn't been specified, though it seems safe to assume that the multiplayer DLC packs "The Rock" and "Fire Sale" will be a part of the bundle.

Meanwhile, even though Kaos was shut down last year, Crytek UK is currently working on the next Homefront game, which is due out during the 2014 fiscal year.

It may sound strange, but i am really looking forward to Homefront 2. Crytek have pedigree, even if they did make Crysis 2. Although I personally blame EA for that. Homefront's world was great, if only the game and characters had been good.

Homefront is like the Super of video games. Great idea, pretty good world. Horrible, horrible execution.

Are they going to give us the rest of the game? That would be nice.

Really though, THQ had it in for Kaos. They said that if the game did well enough, they would not shut the studio down. I'm confused because it was profitable enough to get a sequel, meaning it made it's money back and some on top. But how well did it have to do to not shut the studio down? Are we talking COD good, because it essentially means they were fucked from day one. The only knock anyone really had was the horribly short length. But it only missed the mark by an hour or two. COD campaigns aren't long at all (just comparing it to the gold standard as far as profitability is concerned).

Also, it's interesting to see Crytek do something for someone besides EA. THQ can use the jump. While they are not a perfect publisher, they publish some of my favorite properties and I would hate for them to disappear or merge with Activision or EA. Fuck that.
