Play Left 4 Dead 2 at Comic-Con

If you're attending Comic-Con in San Diego this year, make sure not to miss the chance to go hands-on with Left 4 Dead 2, which will be playable during select times during the convention.

Valve will be attendance at this year's edition of the geek fest to end all geek fests, San Diego Comic-Con, and they're bringing Left 4 Dead 2 to show off to the public. The studio plans on revealing the "Swamp Fever" campaign for Left 4 Dead 2, as well as "a few more" of the new items that will be in the game, which is nice, but the best part is that the game will be playable for the public.

All you have to do is show up at the EA Gaming Lounge at the following times: 2-9 PM on Thursday-Saturday and 12-5 PM on Sunday. The Gaming Lounge is sponsored by the 360, so I'm guessing it'll be the 360 version of the game running, so sorry mouse and keyboard snobs.

I suppose this could also work as a location to stage a mass protest against Left 4 Dead 2, but really, nobody would take that idea seriously, right? Right?

The EA Gaming Lounge is located in the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Hotel, which is on 401 K. Street. Now, I don't know my San Diego geography outside of Sea World, so I might be wrong here, but doesn't that make the Gaming Lounge technically outside of the convention, which is at the convention center? Which means that you might not need a pass to get in...which means if you hate comics but love videogames (like me) and live in or around San Diego, you could get a free chance to play L4D2. Sounds like a recipe for a road trip. Who's with me?

Those running the game center might have thought the same idea, so they may ticket you while getting in to see if you actually are of the main shindig. Which is kind of lame, 'cus I'd totally go just to play me some L4D2 :D

I certainly hope not. Then again, considering the mass of people at Comic Con representing all sorts of geeky interests, I doubt they'd be taken seriously.

That's the one right across from the Convention Center, yes. Might nip by there myself when I'm not working the anime rooms.

Every year, I want to go to Comic-Con and every year they add extra stuff that makes me want to go even more and every year I realize that I live in Tennessee and will never get to go.

Aww, why couldn't it be the New York one? At least then I could temporarily delude myself into believing I'd be able to afford making the trip there to stare jealously at all the geeks who could actually afford to travel to and get inside to play it.

Damn college is taking my monies!

L4D makes its 2nd summer appearance in 2 years at the ol' cons. Last year it was Quakecon, this year Comic-Con, when L4D3 comes out next year who knows? Otakon maybe?

I wonder when they're going to let us try a preview of Duke Nukem Forever.

Oops, I meant to say Half Life 2 Episode 3.

I wonder if security will be high. You know, because of the boycott and all.
Why would they need security for Boycotters? "Okay, security your job is to force those miscreants to play the game."

I bet many members of the boycott group show up and play the game. Afterwards they will state how excellent it is.

My theory anyway.

Yeah, the venue needs protection from all the people determinedly ignoring it...

I fifth this.
Valve is a company that makes games for PC first. Keyboard and Mouse shall always beat a controller in their games.
