Steam's Mobile App Now Available for Everyone

Steam's new smartphone app is now available for all users, letting them buy games from their mobile devices whenever, wherever.

Well, that didn't take long. Mere days after Valve released its Steam Mobile App [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/115524-Steams-New-Mobile-App-Threatens-Your-Wallet-and-Credit-Score] for closed beta testing, Valve has now made the program available to everyone who owns an iOS or Android device.

The Steam app allows users to browse its game catalog and make purchases from wherever they may be, whether it's the office, a restaurant, or the beach. The app also provides news about upcoming events and games, lets users chat with friends, and ignores the sound of your bank account crying out in fear while looking over one of their holiday [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106290-Steam-Goes-Mad-With-Gargantuan-Holiday-Sale-of-2010] sales.

The app is available for download from the Android Marketplace [http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/steam-mobile/id495369748], and all you'll need is your Steam login to access to full gamut of features.

Just loaded it up. Seems to work well albeit a bit slower than the PC client. The UI is great.

God save us all! The retailers and ourselves...

Well that's nice, now all you need to do is come to the HTC/Windows 7 Phone marketplace!

Been playing around with the app the last two days. Looks very good, nice being able to make purchases on the go. I'll never miss a good sale deal again :D

Can't wait for the screenshots and other features get properly integrated.

All this needs is an option to start installing the game from the app. Imagine you're at work, and you left the computer running with Steam open. The hot new title is coming out today, but isn't available until after you've left for work (usually around 11am or Noon). So during the day you're able to load-up the app and tell the game to start downloading the game at your home. Then when you get home, there it is waiting for you, having downloaded while you worked. How awesome would that be?

Sounds like a perfect thing to suggest to them!

Wonder if the next step is Valve selling Android/iOS games. That would be the true end.

I have a really bad phone and probably always will since I can't be bothered using it for more than texting and calling. But still, cool enough I guess.

God damn it, Valve. Why don't I just hand you my bank account on a silver platter? At least that won't be a prolonged death of my savings.

Hopefully that'll stop all the 1 star reviews from inpatient people. I still won't be satisfied until I can play certain steam games on Andriod, or transfer them for a small charge.
