BioShock Infinite Gets a Street Date

The floating city of Columbia will be open to visitors this fall.

BioShock Infinite, the next installment of Irrational Games' famous plasmid-fueled franchise will be released this year on October 16th in North America and October 19th internationally. The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC editions will be available simultaneously.

BioShock Infinite is the third game to carry the BioShock banner, but only the second from developer Irrational Games. And while Infinite should be familiar for most players in terms of art direction and funky genetic super powers, the story and scope (set in a floating, jingoistic 1912 version of America) will be much different than Jack's previous undersea adventures in Rapture.

"After BioShock, we had a vision for a follow up that dwarfed the original in scope and ambition," said Ken Levine, Creative Director of Irrational Games.

"BioShock Infinite has been our sole focus for the last four years, and we can't wait for fans to get their hands on it."

There's yet to be any announcement of preorder bonuses or special edition bundles, but those specifics are sure to roll out as we speed closer to October.

I was starting to think this was going to be delayed until next year. It seems like publishers are starting to go to back to the days of not announcing a release date a year+ in advance.

Good GOD that's some nice cleavage! :p

Seriously though, looking forward to the game. Really interested in knowing how (if at all) Columbia ties in with Rapture. I had heard that Columbia is supposed to predate Rapture by a decade or two, but wouldn't that mean that Andrew Ryan knew about it? You'd think there'd be some mention of it in Bioshock's Rapture lore.

October... So far away... Wait for me, Elizabeth!

Still, I'm going to hold of on pre-ordering until I hear about any special editions.

That's a balcony you could do Shakespeare from!

I'm hoping they don't try and tie it in to the Raptureverse too strongly. BioShock 2 did feel a bit forced as they tried to work in a protagonist who'd been involved all along but was never mentioned at all in the first game.

Wow... People are really trying their breast with these puns! Amirite?! *shoots self*

Anyway, October 19th... I shall stop myself from raging over annoying European release dates this once cuz i'm getting sick of it but that's another 3 days i've got to be internet free since y'know, spoilers.

I can't start another Persona 4 marathon so soon after ME3 guys!

I saw the title and I was happy.

Then I saw the date and I was sad.

Awesome. Long way off but it could be worse. Could have been December I guess. :)

Still, there is no game coming out this year that I am looking forward to more than this one. There aren't many games I specifically upgrade my system for. BI is one of them though. Whatever it takes for this one.

Boobs... (Yeah, I got nothing)

Strangely enough I am now excited, and want to play it... no idea why I didn't before... I think I am finding Elizabeth strangely alluring, and am now compelled to play the game... I think it's those damn cute eyes! I swear they are heavily based on Zooey Deschanels!

*heart melts*. Why show a picture of indie-princess ITT. Not fair, my brain not working.

OT: why is it that the first thing I think of entering this topic is 'boobs'. And not even in a perv way, just a matter of fact. Like a direct association. Anyone els...

*reads thread*

oh.

I essentially just used the thread as an excuse to look up cute pics of the angel that is Zooey... *Looks up and sighs dreamily*

Oh my God. Yes, yes, YES. Cannot wait for this title. October is pretty far away but it's better than 2013 which some people were speculating. Gonna wait to see if there are any Collector's Editions before preordering but this is one of my most anticipated games of the year so I will be buying.

I'm positively Busting to try this game!
The thought of playing this game is absolutely Titillating!

Also, I think this title deserves more hype than it's getting. Still, good to know a release date. :)
