Kojima Finally Announces a New Zone of the Enders

"Enders Project" is currently in the prototyping phase.

Hideo Kojima had next game would feature giant robots [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/95586-Kojima-Promises-Zone-of-the-Enders-3] in some fashion. During a talk session at an event promoting the Zone of the Enders HD collection, Kojima finally made good on his word: Kojima Productions is working on a new Enders game.

As reported by Famitsu [http://www.famitsu.com/news/201205/25015281.html] (if you can read Japanese), Kojima said that the game, currently code-named "Enders Project," was in the early stages of development. The developers were building real-life 3D models of the ZOE mecha and seeing how they translated to KojiPro's FOX engine, said producer Ryosuke Toriyama.

That's pretty much all we know right at the moment. For ZOE fans who have been left languishing since The 2nd Runner in 2003, though, it may be enough. Frankly, we've gone too long without a good mecha-combat game - and I mean sleek Eastern-style mecha, not those lumbering monstrosities in MechWarrior.

Let me be the first to say: It's about damn time.
I've been waiting for this game since beating Zone of the Enders: The Fist of Mars. Repeatedly.
And MechWarrior 'mechs aren't that bad. Some of them look rather nice.

ZoE HD collection? Colour me interested, very interested indeed.

I'm also after a Xenosaga trilogy HD release too please. If anybody out there knows anyone who can make this happen.....I have money, which you can have if you re-release those games.

Shame they couldn't even be bothered to make another handheld game.

Zone of the Enders: The Fist of Mars was kind of cool/fun.

I've been waiting too long for this! I rented The 2nd Runner SO many times when I first heard about it. Easily one of my favorite PS2 games. Rest assured Kojima-san, you'll be getting a sale from me! Definitely going to pre-order that collectors HD collection. BEST DAY EVER!

If you're into ZoE: FoM then the two Super Robot Wars: Original Generation GBA titles would probably be of great interest to you. Almost exact same gameplay.

There's more games in the SRW series but almost none got English releases so you either have to import and speak Japanese or hope for a fan translation, of which there are few.

As for the topic itself? This is one of the few titles I will have no issue whatsoever buying on launch day for full price. I would not be surprised to find myself outside the store waiting for it to open.

I hope it comes to NA/EU.

I played the first ZOE at a friends house in high school. We rented it and I stayed up all night playing it while everyone else was asleep. To be honest, though, I forget the entire story. Hence, an HD collection would be appealing to me to refresh my memory.

Freaking sweet... Though I would point out that comparing any real-type eastern mecha to those "lumbering monstrosities in MechWarrior", theres only going to be one walking away, and it isnt gonna be a Gundam...

As much as I liked ZOE, I still can't stand eastern 'Mech design. Literally no realism in them at all.

Well, there's so much hype about the game, I'll have to check out the ZoE HD Collection when it comes out. Never really played the original ones. I mean, by then, I'll have like, what, another 4 years before the third installment is released?

Yeah, sounds about right. No hurry, though.

Never played the original, but I have The Second Runner, and OMG the game's control scheme was brilliant. I could control a giant mech, in a 3d environment, flying, and fighting dozens of enemies at once and the entire thing not only ran smoothly, it was incredibly fun.

Making a lifesize model and designing a mech that looks like it could possibly be the real thing are two very different things.
