The Week in Review

This week we learn that China takes piracy seriously, Curt Schilling points a finger or two at the Rhode Island Governor and South Korea turns the tables on Blizzard and raids them.

The China thing raised an interesting point.
There was a great number (majority) of people here who were very aggressively against pirates in China and also the Chinese themselves. Even to the point of demanding all out war against China and it's people.

Yet, when it comes to things such as Pirate Bay, people are very supportive. I would also confidently assume that most of the people who were anti-Chinese piracy are themselves downloaders of pirate movies and games.

So, why is it ok for us in the west to pirate, but it's not ok for Asians?

Is it just a nice dose of hypocrisy? Is it racism? Is it the feeling of entitlement? (The movies are made in the west, therefore westerners can pirate it but not asians)

Personally, I think it's hypocrisy mixed with some Neo-McCarthyism.
