This is the distinguishing part between the Wii's "gimmick" and the DS's "gimmick".
Touch screens are practical and offer flexibility in design.
Motion "waggling" is awkward, and adds little to actual design space.
(pointing at the screen works; but just binding actions to the motion controls is no different than remapping the functions from a traditional controller)
That said, I'm still nowhere near sold on the WiiU.
The Wii was a colossal gimmicky piece of shit, sales figures be damned.
