Kirk and Spock Fight Gorn in Star Trek Game

Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto encounter a classic Star Trek nemesis.

Swashbuckling, space-faring, womanizing Captain James Tiberius Kirk has taught us a lot over the years, but perhaps his most important lesson was how to synthesize gunpowder from simple ingredients you could find on any ordinary deathtrap battlefield. In the original series episode Arena, the dauntless captain defeats a Gorn - a member of a cunning reptilian race - in single combat. In Namco Bandai's upcoming Star Trek video game, Captain Kirk and loyal companion Mr. Spock will do battle with an entire fleet of the lizard men. Furthermore, since the iconic duo brooks no imitators, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto will reprise their roles as the roguish Starfleet officer and his green-blooded friend.

Over the course of the cooperative action game, Kirk and Spock will utilize a variety of tools and weapons to do battle with a variety of Gorn adversaries, including multitudinous Rushers, stock Warriors, and imposing brutes. "Great villains give our favorite characters a chance to become heroes in the process of attempting to eliminate a powerful threat," says Carlson Choi, a marketing VP at Namco Bandai. "This is one of those moments and we couldn't be more excited to give gamers a glimpse at the challenges that lie ahead for Kirk and Spock." In addition to raw strength and a bloodthirsty demeanor, the Gorn will use more subtle tactics, such as poison and hallucination to thwart the two protagonists.

While Kirk and Spock will be the only playable characters, they are not the only cast members returning to bridge the videogame gap between 2009's Star Trek and its upcoming sequel. Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, and Simon Pegg will step into the stylish, futuristic boots of Uhura, McCoy, Chekhov, Sulu, and Scotty, respectively. The exact details of the story have yet to emerge, but as usual, it will be up to the crew of the Enterprise to save the galaxy from an emergent threat to galactic peace and stability.

There's no point in beating around the bush: Star Trek games have an extremely checkered past, with the Mirror universe [http://www.metacritic.com/feature/best-and-worst-star-trek-videogames] just yet.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Why cant they make a star trek game based on exploration and discovery with some ship combat. This sounds too much like a standard action game with a bit of star trek sprinkled in.... like a starwars game.

If the developers don't have a level based on Vasquez Rocks they have seriously failed everyone.

I agree. I think the ideal formula for a Star Trek game would probably be something like Mass Effect 1 (I actually think of Mass Effect 1 as Bioware's attempt at making a Trek game), with its emphasis on role playing and exploration. Kirk might be known for his rough and tumble nature, but he also wasn't always the type to use violence needlessly. I think the industry is too fixated on shooting stuff for us to see a true Star Trek game for the foreseeable future.

Oddly enough the mmo startrek online will probably be the closest we come anytime soon, more then a few quests have to deal with actually having to read and think about things and explore, not hard but it beats killing rats and the ship combat is pretty good.

BOO STAR TREK 90210 BOOOOOOO I SAY!

sorry I don't know it just came out of me.

For the record Star Trek online is a decent game, its f2p and fun with a friend there is plenty of content its just a bit samey.

ship combat is awesome. tbh all th ey need is some better storyline missions, maybe use more cutscenes or something, some of the missions are already like this and those are good.

maybe a little voice acting now and again.

needs more raids and pvp really needs fixing other than that its totally fine.

little boring solo though.

I just have this bad feeling that Captain Kirk will be turned into another Shepard and will spend most of his time using laser-phaser guns from behind chest-high-walls coupled with grenades and other gadgets while Spock will enjoy the role of a melee-fighter due to his Vulcan strength, so he'll have to either sneak up on enemies and use his nerve pinch to take them out or just run into battle swinging a lirpa left and right or using his bare hands to dismember opponents with as much blood and gore as the designers can possibly put into the game.

There is seriously not enough Gorn porn out there. Maybe this game will inspire some.
