I've been burned way too many times by over-hyped and shiny looking star wars games to even want to give this the slightest chance.

I'm happy to see that they're at least trying to take a fresh approach, and this has got me a little tempted. However, I'm not sure how well a 'gritty' approach to Star Wars would go down. As Sci-Fi goes Star Wars was always on the camp end of the spectrum, with a far more black and white fantasy, soft-science approach than others. This is by no means a bad thing in and of itself, but it does make the Star Wars mythos a lot harder to take 'seriously' than many others, and Star Wars has always been at its best when it was making the most of all the cheesiness, rather than trying to shy away from it.

That's a good one, tell me another.

The original trilogy could be grimdark as hell, they just toned it down for the sake of having a wider audience to get attracted to the locales and great pretty set pieces. Sure, there was cheesy, but there were also a lot of things about the series that was far from camp.

Read any good Expanded Universe novel and you can easily see how mature Star Wars fiction can be.

I'm glad LucasArts has caught up to this fact now that they're focusing on the people who aren't Jedi or Sith; along with the future television show they're finally starting to recognise that the larger majority of their audience might actually be all grown up now ever since the first movie came out in 1978.
