Far Cry 3 Delayed

It's going to take a few months longer than expected to get Far Cry 3 out the door.

Ubisoft and delayed games go together like PCs and piracy, so it shouldn't come as much of a shock to anyone that Far Cry 3 has been pushed back a few months. Why? To make it even more awesome, apparently.

"To give you more action and insanity, FarCry3 will now be released November 29th in Europe & December 4 in North America," the publisher announced on the Far Cry Twitter [https://twitter.com/#!/farcrygame] account. "To make sure we deliver the best experience possible, the development team has been given more time."

"A rushed game remains bad forever," it added. "Thank you for understanding."

The delay will apparently not affect the timing of the beta, however, although details about how that will be handled won't be revealed for awhile yet. Ubisoft also provided some hope for North American gamers interested in the "Insane Edition," revealed [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/117406-Far-Cry-3-Insane-Edition-Gets-Crazy] in May, tweeting, "The SE version is only available in Europe at the moment," the "at the moment" part at the end being the hopefully-relevant bit. DLC plans are also still being finalized.

Far Cry 3 [http://www.amazon.com/Far-Cry-3-Playstation/dp/B0050SXX88/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340651804&sr=8-1&keywords=Far+cry+3] was originally scheduled to come out on September 4 in North America and September 6 in Europe. To clarify for the benefit of those familiar with the ways of Ubisoft, this affects all versions of the game and not just the PC release.

Too bad them few months won't do it any good. Might as well strap lead shoes on it and throw it at the ocean, because it's just gonna sink into the obscurity of mediocre games anyway pretty much immediately after release.
Large established franchises don't tend to sink into obscurity just like that, even if the game isn't good.

I see they went with November the 29th as opposed to giving the team the full three months. That wouldn't have anything to do with making it seem less long so as to quell public hysteria, would it?

Why do you assume that?

Could somebody please, please, ... please, please, please explain to me why North America nearly always gets games early, regardless of the developer or publisher's locale?

Is it just where games of all publishers are printed? Why can't retailers just hold the copies back a day or two for fair, simultaneous international launch? It's the one true subject in videogames that still kerfuffles me.

Oh, and you got your dates backwards Andy. Just sayin'. Written like that doesn't make much chronological sense, even if it does make literary sense. It should be the 4th and 6th of September - go tell your peers that too :D

Here's expecting the delay to be down to whatever new DRM scheme Ubi's trying out this year :/
