I thought the whole point of a monthly subscription fee is that you don't have to pay for micro transactions like this :/
It is. You don't HAVE to pay for anything. Optional, 100%.
Maplestory Free to play people that buy get faster exp good looking items and mounts.

WoW $15/Month People that pay even more get faster EXP good looking pets and mounts, and are able to change their race to get the best race skills

No one but the most hardcore of arena players would ever pay to change their race. You can't buy faster exp either, unless youre reffering to RAF, in which case, it stops at level 60 and you have to jump through hoops just to do it.

Seen about 50 people with this mount so far, parading it around Dala/Org.

I was tempted, but i'll stick with my Undead Gryphon for now.

I would totally buy this thing if i was still playing WoW. i basicly paid 50$ for that zebra mount from recruit a friend, which i love, and i know i've spent well over 200$ when buying TCG cards for the spectral tiger, so 25$ would be a bargain in my eyes.

even though i have a fair income now, i still would have bought this when i was living off minimum wage. it would take me about 4 hours to make the amount of money required to buy this, and i know i would probably spent well over 100 hours grinding something identicle to this, so yeah, 25$ is nothing for a mount this awesome. i'm truly surprised blizzard didn't charge more, they know damn well people would have paid for it.

Lol. But to be fair, it was a full xpac, and I actually really enjoyed leveling through Northrend. And you had 3 small raids on top of the 4 main ones, as well as over a dozen new dungeons, 2 new battlegrounds etc etc

To those still raiding and questing on a daily/hourly basis, is it okay for Blizzard to charge $25 for a special mount, or is it a shameless money grab?
Personally I think it is okay for Blizzard to do it and at the same time I don't care if it's just a shameless money grab.

Since I started reading the official World of Warcraft I've seen countless of people who always complain about Blizzard giving everyone access to the things they had to work for; or complaining about how things aren't special anymore because someone else happens to have it. But I never understood that mentality. I don't really care about the things other people get or how they get, all I care is about the things I have, the things I want and the goals I set to myself.

Now, people might think my comment has nothing to do with this article and the real subject is just about Blizzard becoming leechers, but in reality most people dislike this kind of stuff because:

[ul][li]Their previously achieved feats may pale in comparison with these new toys,[/li]
[li]They're afraid their in-game accomplishments will mean nothing when/if everyone can buy their way to the top,[/li]
[li]People will not look up to them when/if they show off these items,[/li]
[li]All of the above.[/li][/ul]

Many of the people who complain don't really care about the company being greedy nor their fate in the afterlife, their only worry is that they will no longer be the only ones with the cool stuff.

Blizzard may be doing this just for the "evulz" but they're not hurting anyone (egos don't count, do they?). They're providing something for those willing to pay for it without disturbing the game experience of those who don't want or cannot buy these new items. So yeah...

I love judgmental jerks like you.

You have spent $25 on something the rest of us would laugh at you for. No need to rag other people for how they choose to spend their money.

Implying my life sucks or I am not insanely rich? You have no idea who I (or anyone) is when you say that.

Um, when have you ever been able to buy experience?

The only things you can buy with IRL money for WoW are novelty items such as this mount, a few pets, and those plushies with the in-game counterpart, the TGC has a few other items that are rarer and sell for a heck of a lot more. If people want to buy that stuff, it is there own choice to make, I have the Pandaren Monk, because half went to Charity, and frankly the thing kick's ass, but no one made me buy it, it wasn't forced on me, I thought it'd be a pretty fun thing to have with me a game I spend a lot of time on, so I bought it, people will think the same of this mount. It doesn't even give you a speed advantage since you have to have a 310% speed advantage mount to make it go 310%. The other things you can buy are ofc the race changes, which I know a few people do for fun, name changes, faction changes, stuff like that, none of that gives you any free experience, gold, no free gear, it just gives you options, and options keep people playing MMO's.

They've said that there going to stick to the model of only cosmetic things for money, and if they deviate from it, and start selling gear/xp for money, they'll lose half there players before you can say "WoW sucks".

When you think about it, the people who got the TCG items probably spent a whole lot more than $25 on their respective mounts.
This is true, the Spectral Tiger is currently selling for 850$ lowest on ebay. The big difference though is that that money is not going to Blizzard.

Yes, but how many packs of the TCG do you think people bought to get one of those things in the first place? And that's money that DOES go to Blizzard :p

Wait someone was actually dumb enough to pay real money for that? Well in that case I have this jar of snake oil that cures everything I might want to sell them.

Except I would never feel the need to defend my retarded spending choices on a forum and cry that people who think it's stupid are judgmental jerks.
Laughing at you is far different from crying. And I haven't defended anything. I simply said that I was going to buy it, and pointed out that you clearly have issues if you feel the need to make fun of how other people spend their money.

But go ahead and keep trolling. Gives me something to break up the tedium of my evening :)
