The Walking Dead Moves to iOS This Week
Telltale's episodic zombie adventure gets an updated interface optimized for touch screens.
It's been several months since the first episode of Telltale's The Walking Dead launched on computers and consoles, and the zombie adventure series is finally making its way to iOS devices later this week. On Thursday, July 26, Episode 1: A New Day can be downloaded on the iPad 2, New iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and fourth-generation iPods and above (sorry, first-gen iPad owners). It will be priced at $4.99.
According to Telltale Games, "we've spent a great deal of time carefully integrating our new interface design to create an even more intuitive experience with the touch screen as you explore a world ravaged by the undead." The developer is no stranger to making games for portable devices; most of its previous episodic games, including Sam & Max, Jurassic Park, and Back to the Future, are already available on iOS.
The second episode of The Walking Dead, which was released on the PC, Xbox Live Arcade, and the PSN in June, is also "rapidly approaching release" for iOS devices. Fans can purchase each episode individually, or pre-order episodes two through five as a bundle to save a few bucks. Telltale's blog didn't mention if subsequent episodes will release on iOS devices at the same time as PCs and consoles, but with Episode 3 due out in August, it seems unlikely.
