The Tales From Dunwall Returns With "The Hand That Feeds"

The second part of Dishonored: The Tales From Dunwall is here, and it's every bit as cheery as the first.

Actually, if anything, "The Hand That Feeds" is even sadder than "The Awakening," the first Tales From Dunwall video that debuted yesterday [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/119784-Gather-Round-For-The-Tales-From-Dunwall]. Unlike Esmond Roseburrow, this boy had no hope, no future and no opportunity to rise above the squalor of his life. He had simply vengeance; but the Outsider's vengeance is a double-edged blade.

The Tales From Dunwall videos probably have no more connection to Dishonored than the Dead Island trailer [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107826-Dead-Island-The-Best-Zombie-Game-Trailer-Ever] that made such a splash last year had to its source material, but I'm thoroughly enjoying them anyway. If nothing else, they do a fantastic job of setting the mood and gearing me up to do terrible things in a terrible place. I just hope the game can live up to the sky-high expectations all this marketing has generated.

My first thought after reading "the hand that feeds" was "Goddamn people, when do they learn to buy wards and not do overly risky towerdives? It's not that hard to not die!".

That. Was amazing. I disagree that they have no effect on the game though. Maybe we won't ever see their characters but you can still feel their effects. I mean without the guy in the first video there would be none of the technology you see in the game and we know that The Outsider has given other people the powers that you have in the game. In fact now I wouldn't be surprised if you came up against other people with the mark. Either as allies of enemies depending on the choices you make.

No, seriously. Whatever else can be said about the gamemakers, they sure know how to set a hell of a mood. At this point, it almost doesn't matter what the gameplay is like. I love this world so much I probably won't notice the gameplay.

Also, that was just a random event that happened to characters we never met. These videos are about why things are the way they are in the game itself. The technology Roseburrow made is everywhere in the game, and the Weeping Plague that the kid starts is part of the reason the bad guys were able to seize power in the first place. The plague is also everywhere.
