Square Enix Needs You to Pick the Next Sleeping Dogs DLC

Do you want to be a firefighter or a... Monkey King?

Square Enix hopes that you're once again ready to return to the gritty streets of Hong Kong, and this time you get to choose just what new Sleeping Dogs content you'd like to find there. The company is poised to introduce one of two new DLC packs, and it's using a poll on its official Facebook page [http://www.facebook.com/questions/421443077919704/] to determine which one fans want more.

The first option is called the Sun Wukong, or "Monkey King" Pack. The add-on will feature a new character skin inspired by ancient Chinese mythology, an unbreakable staff melee weapon, a hand-to-hand combat damage buff, and a new monkey-themed vehicle.

The alternative is the Hong Kong Fire Fighter Pack. As you might imagine, this expansion will outfit you with firefighting gear including a full suit, fire axe, and even a fire department van for you to use.

As of the time of this writing, the Monkey King Pack has over 650 votes, while the Fire Fighter Pack has just 130. If I had to guess, I'd say the promise of a monkey-themed vehicle is probably helping to tip the scales. The poll will close on October 21st, though there's no official word on when the winning pack will make its DLC debut.

Wait, so neither DLC has any missions?
Why would anyone come back for a new skin, weapon and car? New missions would bring back people, but this DLC's are good only for people who are playing the game right now.

Oh, when I read the title, I thought the article was more about Square Enix desperate for people to buy Sleeping Dogs for something something.

Prediction: Both DLCs will be launched. First the monkey one, then after a while, they'll go "Welp! People are asking for the other DLC and...here you go! but yeah, pay for it too". So if that's the case, it wouldn't matter which one gets chosen.
But again, just a prediction.

They didn't really think a firefighter stood any chance against a monkey in a popularity contest, right?

I won't be buying either. There's plenty of clothes in the game, I already have the ability to run around looking stupid, cool or suave. I'd only be interested if the staff had significantly different mechanics to the other melee weapons (like a 360 degree sweep, an overhead swing that stuns or magical powers to stretch it to 100 feet long or something) and the car did something unique that the other cars can't do. Such as... throwing feces from its tail pipe. "Smoke screen" mechanic for dealing with pursuers using tail pipe borne feces, yes, I'd buy that.

I'm guessing these will just be an otherwise normal skinned car and a mostly normal behaving melee weapon. So I don't care.
