PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Snags Free DLC in 2013

Two new PlayStation-exclusive franchises join the fight for ultimate supremacy.

Gamers looking forward to Sony's upcoming crossover fighter, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, will already have 20 fighters to test out at launch, but that isn't keeping the DLC train from rolling on. The game - which is slated for release on November 20th in the U.S. and the 21st in Europe - will be scoring a pair of new brawlers in early 2013.

The duo includes Kat from the PS Vita hit Gravity Rush, and the grizzled Emmett Graves from the PlayStation 3 action title Starhawk. The two fighters will bring unique, franchise-specific touches to their play styles, including Graves's ability to call in support from above, and Kat's physics-defying jumping and dashing techniques.

If you're groaning at the prospect of having to pay for new combatants, fear not: Emmet and Kat will both be free to download for the first two weeks of availability. Once you download the DLC warriors, they are yours to keep forever, but if you fail to snag them within their first 14 days of availability, you'll need to cough up an unspecified amount of cash for their company.

Actually, Kat has been one of the most requested characters, behind Crash, Spyro and only a couple of others. I'm not joking when I say that Kat is actually getting people to buy this game.
As for Emmett, he may not be the most memorable character, but Starhawk is a fucking awesome game and deserves to be represented in All-Stars.

Exactly. As much as everyone would love to have Crash and Spyro, Activision owns them both. And I seriously doubt they're gonna let them use those characters, especially because everyone wants them especially because Spyro is busy with Skylanders.

I mean, sure, in theory they could. We already have Big Daddy and lame Dante and stuff. But I doubt they're gonna or else they'd be already in the game. I'm pretty sure Sony thought about those two first before everyone else.

Also, are we talking about Abe from Oddworld? Because that would be impossible since...well, I think he belongs to MS and EA.

OT: Eh...they're free so I'll take it. Don't know who they are but it's free. And then game looks fun. :l

It's a good thing then that you can snag DLC off the PSN without actually having to own the game first.

I recommend picking these up ahead of time. Once it's on your account, it stays there. You could download these characters and then purchase the game three months from now on the used circuit if you're as strapped for cash as I am.
