Five Captains To Reprise Roles For Star Trek: Legacy

Five former Star Trek captains will lend their voices to Bethesda's upcoming Star Trek: Legacy game for the Xbox 360 and PC.

William Shatner, Scott Bakula and every classic Star Trek captain in between will be lending their voice talents to Bethesda's upcoming Star Trek: Legacy game. Yahoo [http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060814/en_nm/life_shatner_startrek_dc]caught up with William Shatner to ask why he decided to lend his voice to the game. "I couldn't imagine someone else playing Captain Kirk, even in a video game, so I kind of got a little territorial," he said. "If it's a good game, keeping true to the characters the best they can and having an interesting story that branches, I think a game can bring a freshness to a franchise like 'Star Trek."

After four seasons of poor ratings on television, Star Trek: Enterprise was cancelled and left a void which has not been filled since. Bethesda secured the rights to create non-MMO Star Trek games last year and has announced a number of new games for handhelds, consoles and the PC. Star Trek: Legacy is a real time strategy game spanning the entire period covered by all the shows.

Oh please please PLEASE let him yell "KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN!"

Just once.

In all seriousness, that's... impressive. I can't remember if there's ever been a good Star Trek title, and I don't know if there's even that much interest in the main gamer audience now, but that's definitely a plus for the game.

Bridge Commander was fun. I don't think I'd call it classic, but it was a good time.

I have high hopes for Bethesda's Star Trek offerings. It sounds like they're making something pretty epic.

I'm not a trekkie, I haven't even seen most of the movies and only caught a few episodes of the TV show, but this news really excites me. I'm not sure where my optimism comes from. Bethesda hasn't steered me wrong yet, so "here's hoping!"
