Capcom Offers Free Pendant with Devil May Cry Purchase

Score a bit of Dante's jewelry when purchasing from the publisher.

If you were considering picking up the newest Devil May Cry, Capcom wants to sweeten the deal - but only if you purchase the game directly from the company. If you order the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 version of the title from the Capcom Store [http://shop.capcom.com/store/capcomus/list/categoryID.3954600/devil-may-cry.html] you'll be treated to a replica of the crimson pendant worn by the main protagonist, for free.

Taking a page out of the book of retailers who often secure such bonuses for their own pre-order programs, it's rather interesting to see a publisher take matters into its own hands. Unfortunately, the bonus doesn't appear to be available for PC gamers, given that the game is only being offered by Capcom as a digital download on its own storefront.

DmC: Devil May Cry is scheduled to hit stores on January 15, 2013, with the PC version following 10 days later on January 25. Capcom hasn't revealed how long it will be offering the bonus, so if you have your heart set on some of Dante's bling, your best bet is to place your pre-order as soon as possible.

I'm normally a huge sucker for stuff like this. Congrats Crapcom and Ninja Theory, you've made a series I liked so revolting, even this wont win me over. That's a feat even Final Fantasy 13 couldn't accomplish.

Ooooooo shiny....

Wait, NO Capcom. You can't convince me to buy the game. I have standards, it'll take more than a pretty pendent to get me to lower them.

Next Week: Order DmC directly from Capcom and get the pendent and a replica of Dante's sword.
------------
Edit: I'm curious, if this game bombs, who's fault is it?
Ninja Theory for making the game, or Capcom for letting them?

I think this picture sums up my feeling on this.

You are going to have to try harder than that Capcom if you want me to buy this as I have seen nothing I like about it so far.

Haha, oh wow.

DmC hasn't even made the top 30 pre-orders list, they've abandoned the 60fps standard for the series and gave us some bull about "simulated 60fps" (AKA it's going to run at 30 if we're lucky), they ruined the character designed and behaved incredible, unimaginably rudely towards long-time fans of the series who complained, they replaced the traditional DMC soundtrack with dubstep, simply because thats what is popular right now.

So they alienate the established fanbase, completely erase the style and themes of the previous games, are too cowardly to admit they'd rather have shiny graphics that an acceptable framerate, and this is supposed to win us over? A toy necklace? Really?

These people are a joke, I hope they go out of business and starve, not because they've ruined an established franchise, but because they're treating us like absolute simpletons.

Oh Capcom, you could offer me a night and a day in Trish's arms, and I would still not buy this burning shit pile of a game.

Maybe for two nights.

And it'd better be good.

Even then, I'd throw the game out and dispute the credit card charges.

I think it would have to be a perfect replica, demon powers and all for me to even consider purchasing this game. And even then, I'd probably just look for the sword on eBay a week after release...

Yeah, this just seems like Capcom saying, "Please buy our game! Please! We're sorry for all the dumb ---- earlier, honest! Please?"

Sorry, but no. You had your chance to fix things. You didn't just ignore the series' fans, you outright insulted them.

Capcom is getting desperate now, first adding 3 and 4 to the PC preoder and now making this free. It warms my soul watching them panic.

Why so much hate? I played the demo, and I really liked it. The combat mechanics seem solid enough, and that's the main reason I would buy a DMC game. DMC3's Dante was "cool" and all, but the story was ridiculous and it was certainly not the main focus of the game. I care very little about the new Dante looking like an "emo" and having the story all changed up. I trust in the changes Ninja Theory is making.

Also, besides some frame-rate problems, the game looks good, I love the way the world warps around into a grotesque and bizarre reflection.

Regarding the pendant. Meh. Looks good, but I'll probably get the regular version eventually when it gets here.

As if I didn't feel effeminate enough wanting to play a game about a tormented, angsty, yet approachable (debatable) pretty boy (even more debatable) with serious daddy issues, now I get to do it wearing toy vending machine jewlery... yay.

Pendant looks tacky as fuck. I'm still getting the game mind you, just from good old cheap Amazon like I always do.

Looks to me like Capcom know DmC: Devil May Cry isn't going to sell well and they're resorting to gimmickry like this to try and sell some extra copies. The fans want a quality game, which a lot of them think/know they aren't going to get; offering a cheap, plastic looking necklace isn't going to change many minds.
