Humble Indie Bundle 7 Nets $2.6 Million in Sales

Charity-minded game collections continue to sell like hotcakes.

The curtain has fallen on the latest Humble Indie Bundle, and while number seven didn't break any records in terms of money raised, the collection of downloadable titles still managed to rake in a cool $2.6 million for the developers and the Child's Play charity. GamesIndustry reports that over 395,000 bundles were purchased, with an average price of $6.69.

If you're not familiar with the Humble Indie Bundles, the concept is rather unique: Several games are offered at a pay-what-you-want price, and you can download full versions of those titles regardless of how much you're willing to donate. If you pay above the average donation amount, you are given additional bonus games as well. Once you decide how much you want to pay, you can choose how much of the amount is paid to the games developers, and how much will be given to charity.

According to the sales data from the 7th bundle, Linux users averaged the highest donation amount at $10.48. Mac users came in second with a $7.94 average payment, and Windows brought up the rear at $6.23.

Since when was this Steam's bundle? You can activate it on steam, sure, but they didn't create the deal. Can't you activate them on Desura too?

Of course Linux users are going to shell out the most :p
Even then the deal was pretty mint.

Steam doesn't run the humble bundles, it's run by Humble Bundle Inc.

You might want to pull the Steam out of the article, as while you can get Steam keys out of the deal the Bundle isn't a Valve operation.

Also the bundle is over? Damm.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Steam was an inspiration for the humble bundles but valve has nothing directly to do with them aside from them being able to be activated on steam.

And I helped. [sub]I'm one of that number.[/sub] :)

I pretty much always buy them, even if I'm not that interested. You can always slide the money to charity. Hell, it's what I usually do regardless.

Don't apologise, that was perfectly legit.

I disagree with your reason though; I think it's more about the unity in the Linux community. A strong sense of [URL="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_%28philosophy%29#Definition" (title,target)]ubuntu[/URL] there. They all think of each other as mates.

I just hope that the new era of gaming has arrived. All we need are red hats, fedoras, cinnamon buns and tons of cake to formally celebrate. At least, that's what my garden gnome told me.

[sub]Damn I suck, don't I?[/sub]

OT- Hooray for Linux users! I can only see this number grow in the future, which is going to be wonderful for everyone.

What you lacked in quality, you made up for in quantity. That was a monolithic herd of jokes.

Also, since when is this the seventh bundle?

It's numbered 7, but calling it the seventh bundle is like calling Resident Evil 5 the fifth Resident Evil game.

Also, listing just the averages for the operating systems is a bit misleading - total amounts together with the average would paint a more complete picture.
