Pre-order The Cave on Steam for Team Fortress 2 Goodies

Despite not having a firm release date, The Cave is currently one of Steam's top sellers.

A few weeks ago, a character trailer for Double Fine's The Cave [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/120893-New-The-Cave-Trailer-Shows-Off-Characters-Release-Date] revealed that the adventure game from industry legend Ron Gilbert was coming in January 2013. According to my calendar, that's the month we are in right now, and The Cave seems poised for release within the next few weeks. Despite still having a non-specific "January 2013" release date listed on Steam, The Cave is now available for pre-order on Valve's downloadable service, and doing so will net you some nifty items to use in Team Fortress 2.

The Sega-published adventure platformer, which was first announced in May and shown off at E3 earlier this year [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/previews/9688-E3-Preview-The-Cave], is already climbing Steam's sales charts. The Cave is currently listed under Steam's top sellers, despite not even having an official release date.

The Cave is priced at $14.99, and it appears that it's release is very near, at least within the next couple of weeks. If Steam isn't your thing, it will also be available to download on XBLA, PSN, and Wii U.

OT: Hm, I actually forgot about The Cave. I think I'll go preorder it once I pay for my books, pay the rent, and import Kingdom Hearts HD. ^.^

While the TF2 items are a plus, I adore pretty much everything Double Fine puts out.

Actually, it's a Hat, a Beard, and a Teddy Bear from a Carnival game; all for the Engie. But yes, you do get a hat.

I preordered it because it's a game that I've been looking forward to since it was revealed. I'm a big fan of both Ron Gilbert and Double Fine, so I doubt that I'll be disappointed. The TF2 stuff is just a bonus as far as I'm concerned.

I felt like it was criminally underrated. I loved it. Shame they said there'll definitely never be a sequel.

Ehhh...I have nearly 2K hours in TF2 and don't really care about the hats all that much (I like the ones that I have, but I'd always rather trade for a new weapon than a hat. Utility and whatnot).

And 2D puzzle platformer is a game type the market is even more saturated with than shooters. There are just so many. Stop it, already. Make some damn 3D platformers. I actually am starved for those.
