No Online Wii Games For Third Party Developers At Launch

According to IGN, Nintendo will not be sending out Wi-Fi connection libraries to third party developers until early 2007.

As part of their report [http://wii.ign.com/articles/728/728041p1.html] on Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, IGN confirmed from multiple sources that Nintendo will not send developers the tools they need to make online games for the Wii until early 2007. This leaves Nintendo's first-party games with exclusive access to the online space for the console's launch.

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam will support four player split-screen mode.

Well its obvious that nintendo hasn't quite figure out the whole online thing yet. The DS online games really do have quite an awkward interface. Hopefully they realise that the whole friend code system is a bad idea, or at least give each console a unique one, rather than each pairing of console and game.

Oh wow would it be annoying to have to redistribute a code amongst all your friends everytime a new game comes out!
