See Why Mario's Coins Are No Good

The Wii U videos Nintendo showed at Sundance have hit the interwebs.

Remember a few days back, when Nintendo hosted its film challenge [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/121542-Nintendo-Aims-at-Movie-Star-Power] at the Sundance Film Festival? Well, the fun's over, and now you get to see what those film goers saw, thanks to Nintendo's generosity and the internet.

Coins, the entry seen here, is the winner of the 48-Hour Challenge. The hapless pair try to get rich by bringing Mario coins into the real world - science! - but things don't go according to plan. Its hero, Andre Meadows, takes his fame in stride. "Last day of #Sundance," he Tweeted [https://twitter.com/BlackNerd/status/293461510297112576], "Last day of free continental breakfast."

The other entrants are Legacy [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lffQSFj9t-w], in which icons battle it out over gaming's legacy.

Is that funny? I can't tell.

Eh, not my kind of humour I guess.

If those coins are actually made from gold, just have them melted and turned into ingots instead of trying to use them for buying stuff directly.

Man, that ending would put shabamala to shame, and not just because this whole film is actually worth watching!

I think they're made of pixels.

Haha its funny because they took an idea from a video game and applied it to real life.

That was pretty good, though the thread title was rather misleading. Reading that, I thought we were going to see this "oldie".

Thought the same thing though personally I did not find the actual video in the OP particularly interesting. The VSauce version would have still been a treat even though I have seen it several times already.
