The Chosen, enemies who come from the Melding, an intergalactic death fog that appeared during the catastrophic event. Said catastrophic event is when humanity tries their first warp/teleporting technology on their flagship spaceship and accidentally tear open a hole in space-time that the Melding pours out of, enveloping most of the Earth except where the battleship ended up crashing as the teleporter tech is also holding the Melding at bay.

And that chick is wearing an Assault-class battleframe (powered bodysuit) and even the male version of the frame looks like that.

Nope. There are civilian clothes and the other frames have more prominent under-clothes like the full bodysuits on Recon or Biotech (combat medic) frames. Assault frames are pretty much just shorts with bulky armor, though.

i suppose not much survived the event but one of the few things that did was a working copy of tf2 and thus they worship the engineer as some kind of god and to honor his lost left glove they rip of their pant legs.

i have a beta key but what really stops me from trying this thing is the marketing with every picture i see containing females in both power armor and with exposed skin. because that shit bugs me to no end.

Do I actually have to know everything about the lore to understand why there's no reason to protect one's abs and legs in the future? Are you sure it doesn't just boil down to "it makes prettier box art"?

It's not really uncomfortable, its more about the whole "appeal to 13 year old boys" vibe this kind of marketing gives off. However if the armor for everyone is equally stupid it doesn't bug me as much.
And I just noticed the medic has a syringe gun, my Tf2 comparison is not that off
