Watch Dogs Multiplayer Gets Not-Quite-Official First Look

This one crept out of the stable a little early.

Ubisoft recently posted what looks like a section of Watch Dogs multiplayer action, then dragged it back into the darkness from whence it came, but not before it was snagged by several other interested parties. It's a complicated slice of life; action starts with Aiden being hacked and chasing down his hacker, then switches to the hacker's - that is, Aiden's [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/124967-Ubisoft-Details-Watch-Dogs-Multiplayer] - point of view. When Ubisoft described this system previously, it was quick to mention that the multiplayer segment could be turned off if the player didn't want to participate, and wouldn't be active during story missions, so if what you're looking at really doesn't appeal, don't worry; you don't have to participate if you choose not to.

Watch Dogs is Ubisoft's near future cybercrime saga, in which you play as wronged hacker Aiden Pearce, trying to set things right in Chicago any way he can. You manipulate city-wide network ctOS to fool your enemies and spread your viruses, while at the same time - in the multiplayer - other people are using ctOS to do the same to you. The action is constantly focused on Aiden so, even during the multiplayer, Aiden's target - though his skin will be just like every other random NPC on the map - is actually the other player's Aiden, effectively preserving immersion even though everyone's technically playing the same character.

This one's due for current and next gen consoles, as well as PC, November 2013.

Seems interesting. once the target spots you or you spot it, I found it a bit sad that things ended so quickly. It was just one small car-chase and then ended. We'll see if maybe with some inventive players, this will be a lot longer and more interesting.

Goddammit Watch_Dogs.

Every time I see new gameplay, I need to change my pants.

On a serious note, this is one Multiplayer mode I might actually take a crack at.

Not going to lie this is basically exactly what I was looking for when it comes to Multiplayer for this game. So good.

It will probably be more in depth than that. Especially with multiple hackers. It could be interesting for them to have multiple people trying to hack the same person, but that probably wouldn't be balanced - you on the receiving end having to track down multiple hackers. Unless it's something like:

"The more people hacking you, the slower their hacks - allowing for more time to track them down."

I hate to say it, but this reminds me of the hope that I had for Brink (cluster **** that it turned out to be). I liked the way they blended single player with multiplayer: you could be playing a single player game with bots, only to have a friend jump into your game and take over one of the bots. They could they jump out and instead of your team losing a unit, a bot would simply take over.

Please, please, please don't let watch dogs be a failure though. Brink had bright ideas but poor execution.

The multiple hackers idea definitely sounds interesting. However, since the main objective when you find one is "pursuit and kill", I think they will probably be limiting it to one, since running after several people at once seems kinda impossible.

Yeah, I remember Brink. Thankfully never played that horrible mess. I really really hope Watch Dogs not like that. The driving has got me a bit worried atm because it seriously looks like it isn't very fun. However, if most time is spent walking around and hacking, I won't mind. I'm definitely excited to see this on launch but I'll definitely be waiting for some reviews before jumping at it with love.

I'll wait to see what they've got. If cars are abundant enough that it takes more to get away that simply getting into one, it could be pretty good. Imagine high speed pursuits with the hacking system at your disposal:

- Triggering traffic lights to cause pile ups to wreck the vehicle you're pursuing, or that's pursuing you.
- Closing an automatic security gate as the guy you're chasing attempts to drive through
- Triggering those roadblocks
- Raising draw bridges
- Losing track of the vehicle you'r pursuing, and using traffic cameras to find him
- Causing a blackout as that he wrecks
- Guy's trying to cross train tracks so you disabled the train in order to block his path

I wouldn't give up on the car chases just yet.

Also, he kinda had ample opportunity to fire at the rear tires of that car but he kinda just shot the bumper a few times like a derp.

I see this working much like Spy Party where it'll be a mix of hiding spots and trying to use the crowd to block their view while moving like an npc.
