Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster May Get Limited Edition

A GameStop ad points to limited edition versions of the HD remasters.

Final Fantasy fans everywhere rejoiced to hear that <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/113003-Square-Enix-Dusts-Off-Final-Fantasy-X-for-PS3-Remake>Square Enix would be dusting off Final Fantasy X and X-2 for an HD collection that will be sure to enthrall fans of girl power and poorly acted laughter everywhere. If that weren't enough to tantalize potential players, Square Enix may have one final trick up its sleeve to draw fans of the series into purchasing the new remastered versions. While there is presently no confirmation from Square Enix, an ad from GameStop has pointed to a potential limited edition of the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster.

The ad in question says that customers can pre-order a copy of the HD Remaster to "receive your free limited edition upgrade." Nothing else is offered to detail what the limited edition might include. Additionally, while Siliconera has posted a screen capture of the ad in question, residents outside of the United States have apparently been privy to different ads. In turn, it looks as though GameStop may have <a href=http://www.gamestop.com/gs/weeklyad/current/062613/olfsi_062613-2.aspx>modified the original version of the ad as we (U.S. residents) attempted to visit it and found all mention of the limited edition absent. This could either mean the retailer made a mistake or is trying to save itself from further exposing the existence of the limited edition.

Either way, it leaves us to wonder what Square Enix could include in a limited version of the HD Remaster. Considering the size and scope of both Final Fantasy X and X-2, something like a strategy guide could come in handy. Alternatively, a soundtrack CD would be a nifty treat for fans of Nobuo Uematsu's, whose work includes some rather lovely tracks from Final Fantasy X. What would you like to see if a limited edition does in fact surface?

The limited edition could include the international edition, which has the dark Aeons, Penance, harder optional bosses, among others. X-2 might include Last Mission, but they already said they weren't going to do it. Other than the OST, strategy guide, action figures, and collectible posters, I can't think of anything else, unless they took it upon themselves to add new content.

I would like to see it include a different game. I JOKE!

Really though, I would like to see some limited editions to rival the old Working Designs box sets of the PSX era. Hard cover manuals, cloth maps, pendants worn by characters in game, character trading cards, all good things in my book.

Additional in game content or DLC is all well and good, but its the tangible collectibles and a good package that usually grab my attention and make it something worth keeping on my shelf.

Seriously, did nobody understand that the laughing was supposed to be awkward and fake? That was the whole point of the scene, that he had to force it.

P.S. Thanks

If these are the International Editions then color me sold on this.
Although I still think Square Enix is trolling me because everytime I import a game from them they either a) announce that they are making some sort of HD remake or b) announce news on an HD remake after so long.

This has happened to me when I imported Final Mix + and it came with Re: Chain of Memories, only to find out that Re: CoM was being released later that year. Then when I finally imported Final Mix and was about halfway through my LP in which I was translating the text I found out that they were making a Kingdom Hearts HD collection that included Final Mix. Finally when I'm LPing FF X International all of a sudden 2 days later after I began it they finally gave news on the FF X/X-2 HD collection! >.<
Coincidence, probably. Do I like to think that Square Enix is trolling me, yes. XD

Funny thing is that this has happened so many times that people now want me to LP FF XII International with the hopes that suddenly they'll announce an HD remake of XII...I'm not taking that chance anymore! >.<

Doesn't really make it easier to listen to.
And then there is everything else about those games thats annoying.
Well yeah. The voice acting was, on the whole, pretty bad. The story didn't make much sense, the ending didn't make much sense. It wasn't an amazing game. I just get sick of people singling out the one scene where the bad voice acting actually fit.

P.S. Thanks

Being from Britain I did not realise that the Dark Aeons and other things were extra added in. Though at the time it did seem weird to be fighting monsters way harder than the final boss prior to the final boss.

But I just figured they had gone back to FF7 logic, because a few of the Weapons where harder to beat than Sephiroth.

Try hearing a whole convention hall of geeks doing it. It starts like the slow clap, one person doing it and spreads across the Con floor.

And what if someone chimed in with the Japanese "dying bird" variant? *shudder*

I am actually looking forward to the remaster, and I think X-2 is actually pretty fun to play despite the awkward fanservice everywhere. I'd definitely be tempted by a special edition if there are some good pack-ins.

I'm already going to be all over this game, doubly so if there's a limited edition. Unless we're talking a $100+ one, I'm not made of money.

Seriously, if I could get an edition WITHOUT those goddamn Dark Aeons I'd be one happy woman!
I had to waste all my gil bribing Yojimbo to take out Dark Valefor just so I could get back into Besaid for Auron's last video sphere doohickey. And I ran like a little girl past the Dark Magus Sisters.

I know this wouldn't happen but I've always wanted the option to play an alternate scenario
in which Yuna did go ahead with the final summoning, you could select which guardian to use as the fayth and each choice would come with a different final aeon. Then there would be a fight against Sim with said final aeon

maybe the limited edition will not contain final fantasy 10-2. you know, to save consumers the trouble of ignoring it and to spare them the temptation of "well maybe 10-2 wasnt quite as bad as i remembered..." i got half way through that game and the nightmare still havent gone away
