Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded Finally Comes

The classic adventure game gets a facelift, thanks to Kickstarter.

It was about a year ago that Kickstarter began to change the way that games are funded. Now, some of those first-wave games are coming into reality. After suffering months of delays due to [a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/117128-Leisure-Suit-Larry-Remake-Pushed-Into-2013]too much money[/a], developers Replay Games decided to finally give Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded the stamp of approval and [a href=https://www.replaygamesinc.com/store/index/products/item/leisure-suit-larry-reloaded]place it on sale[/a].

Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded is a remake of the classic 1987 adventure game, which itself was a remake of a 1981 text game called Softporn Adventure. For the unfamiliar, the game follows perpetual loser Larry Laffer as he searches for the woman of his dreams. The game was famous for stirring up controversy with its risque (if relatively tame) content. Larry: Reloaded isn't just prettier than the ancient Sierra Online games, but it's larger as well. Al Lowe, the original creator, has returned to write new content, expanding the cast, puzzles, and areas of the game.

The original was an adventure game from the days of pixel hunting and obtuse puzzle design. Think Kings Quest, but with more sex jokes. Those interested in the history of the series can check out the entire collection on [a href=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/leisure_suit_larry]GoG[/a], including the VGA remakes from the early 90's.

Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded can be purchased for PC or Mac on [a href=http://store.steampowered.com/app/231910/]Steam[/a], or straight from [a href=https://www.replaygamesinc.com/store/index/products/item/leisure-suit-larry-reloaded]Replay Games[/a] themselves.

If you haven't picked this up yet, consider doing so. It is not just a second remake of LSL1, it has introduced new content throughout, and the graphics and music look great.

There is a lot less pointless backtracking here. I hope Replay Games will be able to do the rest of the series, especially LSL2 and LSL3 which never got a VGA upgrade.

I really want to see the second game remastered at somepoint.
I had bought all the the old games [From GoG], but I can put myself to play so old adventure game...

Should have kept on this thread.

In an video while doing the LSL:R kickstarter the guys at replay games said they have the rights to redo all the games from 1-7. So as long as they can have the money and drive to do so, they will remake all the classic games.

Oh! This is indeed good news then!
Lets hope we see an actual fourth game of the series....

They haven't confirmed or denied that and I doubt it. I don't think Al Lowe is done with that particular gag yet and it would require a fair bit of a rewrite for LSL 5.

Well, any chance for the rest of the series to get remade or new ones put out just died.
