Persona 5 Shows Up on Sony Site

Add this one to the pile of evidence of a new Persona game's existence: a listing on a Sony website for Shoji Meguro, longtime Atlus composer, as producer of Persona 5.

This is starting to turn into a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 XBLA/PSN type of affair. Atlus has yet to announce a Persona sequel, but we all pretty much assume it's going to happen, and at the rate at which rumors and evidence of the game pile up, every single time Atlus denies the game's existence is going to make it seem more and more likely.

The newest piece of evidence is certainly the most interesting one yet (though certainly not as weird as a profile [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/93285-Pachinko-Report-Points-to-Persona-5-for-PS3] of longtime Atlus house composer Shoji Meguro on a Sony mobile PlayStation site gives him credits for a number of Atlus titles, including Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, Persona 3 and 4, and...Persona 5.

Meguro's listed as a producer for the game, which is interesting since he has yet to serve in a production role for a Persona game and is pretty much seen as the music man. That could be a typo. If it is, and the whole Persona 5 thing is another typo, well there's two giant slip-ups on the part of whoever's running this website.

So, Persona 5 confirmed? I'm not going to jump to that conclusion yet. Tokyo Game Show is next month, in any case, and if there's anywhere to announce the game, it'll be there.

Quick question- would said Persona 5 be for the PS3 or the PS2? If it's the former, crap, because that means I'll probably never play it; and if it's the latter, crap, because that means I shouldn't have sold my PS2 to buy Prototype. (DON'T JUDGE ME)

I hope its under production, I didn't get around to purchasing Persona 4, mostly because the PS2 exclusive thing kinda unnerved me, but im not sure if Persona 5 has any other option but to go to the PS3 console.

Anyone care to share on why this series is so popular, cause I don't get it... You might just persuade me

I hope this isn't a PS3 exclusive. I don't have one, and I'd love to play the 5th one when it inevitably comes around.

To be honest though, I think it will be a PS3 exclusive. Atlus and Square have a long history with Sony. It would probably take a lot of money for Microsoft to convince them otherwise.

Well I've only played the most recent title, but I thought it was a brilliant game. It's not as 'involved' as Mass Effect is - it's a JRPG after all - so you don't get many opportunities to change anything or even say anything.

But, looking past that, it's a stylish game with an original concept, a well-told story, a pleasing art-style and an innovative levelling-up system that relies on socialising with well-realised characters. It's also got some damn good original music which comes in a CD with the game.

On the official Atlus website, there's a topic under Persona 4 about what people would like to see in P5. I doubt the ideas there will influence how the game will turn out (if this is, indeed, a sign of a new game being made), but as a result I wouldn't be surprised if the game was in production. The thread in question is not an offical thread, though some conspiracy theorists might not be wrong to wonder if it is secretly put there by the company.

Is it just me, or are a lot of games being listed in people's credits before they're even announced these days?

Oh god, not another Persona. I despised 3.
Might I ask, why? Because I'm playing Persona 3:FES right now, and *Bada-ba-ba-bahh!!* I'm lovin' it!

2)It's a boring RPG. The characters are all yawn-inducing stereotypes, the social link system is a cluster fuck to get with non-interesting characters. The whole Randomized Dungeon thing leads to a lot of confusion. The Persona Mixing system takes several guides just to get it slightly, along with the sidequests as a whole. And it's just a boring grind of a game.
I find the battle system very intuitive, I actually felt sorry for some of the characters, I felt the social link system actually gave you a reason to manage your time and keep friendships AND some storys behind those characters were very touching (Like the jogging suit guy wanting to help his nephew in physical therapy), I have no problems with randomized dungeons, though I'll give you the Persona Mixing system a bit, and the first time around it does feel like your missing a lot of what you could do.

On top of that, there are some hi-LARIOUS moments (like the 3 guys trying to pick up chicks on the beach, and the last one they try is actually a man! I laughed so hard at that whole situation)

But, eh, I guess it's more of a niche game. I'm loving it and plan to get Persona 4 after I'm fully done with 3.

Persona 3 and 4 are my all time favorite games so I would be ecstatic if this was true. If it's a PS3 exclusive then I'm gonna need to get another job or something because I would pay for a PS3 without a second thought if it was for Persona 5.

what kind of game is the "Persona" series??? i get its an RPG, but how does it works?!? mixing people!?!? it sounds like a "thoudsand swords" kind of game (an RPG where the main character had to LVL up his relationship with the "females" of the party by taking them on dates to have the most of each girl)

Nice, I might just check it out once it hits in a year or so.

Let's see if this can kill the 'PS3 has no good RPGs' attitude.

creepy and interesting story set in modern japan, good in game mechanics espesialy in the newer ones, challenged by what u choose to do outside of the fights which makes a difference to what u do in the story and affects your combat, interesting characters well most anyway, only bad thing i think is that it kinda forces u to be nice to get perks. but thats bareable so im looking forward to what they do next.
