Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright Is Coming to The West

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright is coming to European and North American 3DSs in 2014.

A few years ago, fans of Level 5's puzzling Professor Layton series, and Capcom's Ace Attorney lawyer simulators were treated to an amazing announcement: a Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright crossover game [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/104551-Professor-Layton-Phoenix-Wright-Crossover-for-Japan-Only-Says-Capcom]. Unfortunately, it was only released in Japan, and has stayed that way for the past two years. At its most recent Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced that the game will finally be making its way to English speaking territories, with a European and North American release some time in 2014.

Western Ace Attorney fans in particular have been getting the middle finger from Capcom for quite a while. We completely missed out on Ace Attorney Investigations 2, and when the long awaited Ace Attorney 5 was announced, it was revealed that we were only going to get a digital download version [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/123972-Ace-Attorney-5-Coming-to-North-America].

Because of this, any hope of ever seeing an English release of Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright was all but lost, so its a very nice surprise to see Capcom and Level 5 listening to its Western fanbase for once.

Check out the announcement trailer, which shows off some familiar gameplay segments from both series, as well as some cool anime-style cutscenes. It's nice to see Maya featured in this game, as it looks like she won't be coming back for Ace Attorney 5.

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, the latest game in the Professor Layton franchises, was also announced for a Western release in "early" 2014.

That means it's time for me to buy a 3DS. Good thing there's a sale coming soon at my local electronics shop. May just wait a bit longer though if it's like mid 2014.

Me and my 3ds are rejoicing at all the Phoenix Wright localization going on. Come on Capcom and Ninty all you need to do is give us Ace Attorney 2 then the English side of my collection can be complete. Please, please?

Between Megaman in Smash Bros, Street Fighter 4 getting some more life, and this, Capcom, all is forgiven.

"I find that the defendant, Capcom, who has been charged with stupidity and negligence..."

"We did it, NIck!"

"I guess it is, Maya."
(...I guess this is over...)

OBJECTION!

(...gah! He's right! His second game isn't out ANYWHERE except Japan!...)

(...but I can't get up! After my return Dual Destinies, I'll truly show Edgeworth who will be the King of THIS Franchise!)

OT: Yay! After so much doubt, the game really is coming out! VICTORY FOR THE FANS!

This game looks so weird that it might just work. I love how this looks so over the top and the new animation style of Phoenix.
I want this game so bad!

Soon I will finally have a reason other than Animal Crossing New Leaf to play my 3DS.

Seriously can't wait. The Ace Attorney series needs some love in the West. Now if only they'll give us that localisation of Ace Attorney Investigations 2!

You can't object after the verdict.

It's literally impossible because the person in question has already been sentenced and cannot be retried.

Sadly Capcom will now get away with never releasing Ace Attorney: Investigations 2.

All of the yes! Been wanting this game ever since I saw that crazy Japanese trailer. This and Ace Attorney 5 are enough to finally give me a reason to buy a 3DS.

Ah, yes. Thanks! Fixing it now.
