Sir, You Are Being Hunted Gets an August Release Date

The Kickstarter-backed survival game Sir, You Are Being Hunted will get an Early Access release on Steam and the Humble Store next week.

<a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/122696-Lone-Survivor-Heads-to-PS3-and-Vita>Gaming's survival genre is undergoing <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/124273-Shelter-Footage-Reveals-the-Hardships-of-Mama-Badgers>something of a resurgence these days, but few titles stand out quite like Sir, You Are Being Hunted. On paper, the Kickstarter-backed project combines Far Cry 3's exploration and scavenging with Portal's humor, dropping players onto procedurally-generated islands filled with murderous (but sophisticated) British robots. If that concept sounds intriguing, you'll be pleased to know that the game's official release is coming sooner rather than later. Developer Big Robot has announced that the game's public alpha will launch on August 19th for Steam and the Humble Store, giving players a taste of what to expect in the upcoming final release.

On release day, all Kickstarter backers and preorder customers will get immediate access to Sir, You Are Being Hunted's alpha. As is the trend with Early Access titles, all future updates for the game will be made available without charge. The August 19th alpha includes most island biomes, the base-level Hunter robots, dogs, sentry ballons, and "The Squire", a middle-class robot that guards individual villages.

Players will be able to complete Sir's objectives in full, with additional content added via future updates. The finished game features an additional two island biomes (specifically, post-industrial Britain and a giant castle), along with new NPCs that pose unique challenges for players. All told, Sir, You Are Being Hunted has a lot to offer stealth and survival fans alike, and it can be preordered today at Big Robot's website for a $20 price tag.

So it's pretty much DayZ, with randomly generated areas and robots like TF2's Mann vs. Machine mode, all dipped in Earl Grey tea and topped with a monocle?

Look. Here's my wallet. Take however much you want but gief nau.

Finally!!! I've anticipating this game the entire year!
Stealth and Survival are my favorite single-player genres.

...I think more than anything, what I'm taking from this article is I'm finding it more and more annoying how people are calling Alpha releases game releases.

I'll problably buy this. It reminds me of Receiver, a gam I would like to recommend. I've found desperately hard survival games with procedurally generated content are my favourite.
