Payday 2 Launches With Balletic Violence Trailer


Ahh, music soothes the savage breast, silenced pistol or no silenced pistol.

One oddly soothing trailer, and we have a robbery: Payday 2 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/124471-Payday-2-Boasts-A-Pleasantly-Mellow-Trailer], the steal-and-shoot co-op title from 505 Games, is out in the wild world. Today is the Steam launch, tomorrow the PSN, and before you know it retailers will have it on their shelves. Crimenet encourages you to rob banks with friends, but bear in mind that if you get too enthusiastic with the shooting, you may end up on the wrong end of someone else's shotgun.

You play as one of four character types, the Mastermind, Enforcer, Technician or stealthy Ghost, and level up your character by successfully completing robberies. Note the successful in that sentence; even if you have got the drop on Mr FBI Man, chances are you're not going to enjoy the rest of your day if things have gone that far. This one's a digital and physical release for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Remember, only the digital PC version is out today. The rest follow later, and by Friday 16th all the versions will be out there.

I have been playing the Beta for 3 weeks. It is even better.

Kinda tweeked they are making all the Beta players go back to start but hey it was a Beta so no biggie.

I can already hear the idiots of the world screaming "CRIMINAL SIMULATOR!!! IT WILL MAKE EVERYONE A MURDERER!!!!!!" Yeah game PUNISHES you for hurting civilians.....

Never heard the phrase said that way before.
Anyway, I thought the trailer was well done. They've done a good job with trailers, and I liked the Payday miniseries they put out before this. From experience in the beta, the game looks to be an improvement over EVERYTHING in the first game, while still having the same Oceans 11 or Heat feel. Can't wait for my friends to pick it up.

been playing the beta for awhile. its a vast improvment on the old one. the first one no matter what you did it always ended in a non stop shoot out. now you can acually pull off a perfect job. on the hardest diffcultiy and no cops are ever called. its acually fun to try stealth. and ever one of their class's are diffrent anf feel diffrent rather than being token.

all in all a good game so far. not perfect but it is good. a few bugs aside

Just a couple of bugs in the beta? The bigger question is, are they sill in there in the released full edition?

OT: This is definitely a far cry from the usual EXPLOSIONS EVERYWHERE! trailers... though it makes me feel a little dirty for playing the first one. I didn't feel so much "This looks awesome" as much as "wow... those robber dudes are right assholes, and I had fun playing as one not too long ago."

...Yeah, I'm real fucking deep.

I've decided this really is the credits intro for a heist-gone-wrong movie, forshadowing the Bolivian army ending (that is, the ensemble of heros all get wiped out, thanks to every swat guy in the county responding to this alert.) The Kaiser Soze set them up to fail here, probably as a distraction for the real job on the other side of the city. He not only called in an anonymous tip, but told the police these guys are terrorists planning on blowing the building to make a political statement.

Kaiser's probably greasing some mobster getting out of jail, or breaking his mom out of a mental hospital.

Yeah.... But the "Law Enforcement" in the game seems off... They ACTIVELY hide behind the civilians. I have seen them pop civilians more than my own crew did. I think there is some subtext about the government being corrupt too if you look at the posters in the game. I think it is more of a fight the power thing.
