Tom Clancy's The Division Confirmed For PC

Ubisoft's Communications Manager cites immense fan feedback as the reason for The Division's PC port.

One of the more interesting games revealed at this year's E3 was confirmed [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/124803-The-Division-Depicts-The-Post-Apocalypse-by-Tom-Clancy] that it will also be available on PC. He cites overwhelming fan feedback as the main reason behind The Division's PC port.

The Divison is an interesting, almost MMO-like multiplayer game about a replicating virus wiping out humanity. When it was announced, it seemed a perfect fit for the PC, the platform which has long since dominated the MMO genre, but surprisingly, only the PS4 and Xbox One were confirmed as platforms. Thousands of PC gamers took to Twitter, Facebook and the Ubisoft forums begging for a PC version, and now Ubisoft has delivered.

"Since E3 we have been carefully listening to what has been said on the internet," said Executive Producer Fredrik Rundqvist. "I can't stress enough how important it has been for us to feel your support, interest and commitment to the game. Your opinions matter to us. The positive energy you bring back to the team will help us create the best game possible." Fredrik assures us that "we will provide you with a first-rate PC experience."

The Division is being developed by Massive Entertainment, which has its roots in PC development with titles like Ground Control and World in Conflict. You can check out the full video announcement in the video above.

This is good news all around, I think. Now if only we could get Rockstar to do the same with that GTA V PC port...

Oh boy, I get the chance to once again use Ubisoft's shitty service because they hate people who play on PC.

Wait, no I won't, fuck that. Game looks mediocre anyway.

ubi is starting to look bad in my book. the game looks alright but if it doesnt really have a proper SP campaign, i might give it a miss and just stick with AC 4 since i do enjoy this franchise...for the moment.

Will buy it on steam, sucks for my poor old local retail but I hate Ubisoft's own online crap that you get otherwise.

From my experience, buying an Ubisoft game through Steam will still make the game run through uPlay.

Exactly right, because I got gifted Anno 2070 through Steam and whenever I launch the game it has to open and use Uplay or I cannot play the game at all.

This is what happens when another digital service loves to collide with another for no one to gain but the provider itself.

OT: Not really all that bothered it's coming to PC since I don't really like Uplay or Ubisofts online services, I'll stick to getting this on the PS4 or One when it comes out.

Also scanned the first Youtube comments section of the video and found this hilarious comment:

"But one thing... Why did they announce for PC when nobody has seen the game yet. It's not out yet and lets just be honest with ourselves, it could possibly be a bad game. The trailer looked good, but thats a trailer. I guess they're confident in its success. I personally hope it's as good as it looks and I'm glad to see them work towards the superiority of the PC master race, where man and machine are one with the universe. Limitless power!"

Yep i can second that, got Tom Clancy Ghost Recon Future Soldier with the Summer sale.

When i finally got around to installing it i spend 2 or so hours getting bloody Uplay to work.

What i will say is that there is a mandatory one time log-in-online and after that you can keep it in offline mode.

On a side note, didnt they remove all the draconian DRM (aka Uplay) from all their games?

yes, thats true that uplay is required when getting games from steam. i got my self revelations from steam when it came out and it still jumped over to uplay. not that i have a problem with it since i have an account but still annoying that it is required as well.

Steam need to nut up on that sort of shit and stop carrying games that require a second online DRM.

It's the least they could do.

The most they could do is become like GOG... but that's CRAZY talk.

That's good news. Not that it will matter if GTA Online get a Steam release. Because it looks like you can do a lot more in GTA Online than you can in The Division. The Division gameplay looks just like Future Soldier.

Who the hell asked for Ubisoft to make more PC games?
I sure won't be playing it.

Well that was fast, guess my petition vote actually helped on their decision.

I can't wait to play The Division.
