$250 Blue PS3 Arriving in America This October

The Azurite Blue Super Slim PS3 will come with 250GB of memory and retail for $250 exclusively at GameStop.

While the PlayStation 4 will have a price advantage over the Xbox One at its launch, its $400 sticker price is probably still going to be too much for many people to cough up for a console that, when you get down to it, will be stuck with a fairly limited library of launch titles for at least several months. If you're still in the market for something from the PlayStation brand, however, Sony has announced yet another new model of the PS3 that might just strike the fancy of late adopters.

The Azurite Blue PS3 Super Slim will be landing exclusively in American and Canadian GameStops on October 8th, adding a cooler compliment to the Garnet Red console the company put out with a God of War bundle <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/121813-All-Red-PS3-Coming-to-the-U-S-in-God-of-War-Bundle>this past March. The Azurite Blue edition will be sold on its own for $249.99 and will come with 250GB of memory. That's a lot of memory for not a lot of money, especially when you consider that the <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/126818-200-PS3-Coming-to-North-America>recently announced $200 PS3 only comes packaged with 12GB of flash memory.

Even with the PS3 well into its twilight years, we're going to say its worth investing in one if you haven't already. The PS4, after all, isn't going to be backwards compatible and the PS3's software selection at this point is large, varied, and packed with quality titles that will go a long toward keeping you entertained as you wait for the game libraries of the next gen consoles to expand a little more.

Just when you think the PS3 is old, they gave it a re-skin. Who says that hardware cannot be sold like DLCs?

Could they have at least gone with a darker shade of Blue? That looks kinda garish.

Not a particularly pretty looking one, this one. They couldn't have at least went with a darker shade of blue?

That's the shade of blue that they used to use for those cheap-o third-party controllers.

Indeed.
I was a little intrigued at first, thinking it would be a nice deep hue of blue that would be pleasant to look at.
But that is, as you equated, cheap looking.

Shit! Well, I do want a blu ray player for my living room. And having just learned of the game "Payday 2," I was going to buy it for my 360, but was dreading having to pay for XBL, as well as dreading the day that MS eventually cuts support for the 360 in the hopes of coercing people to buy the Xbone ala them cutting XBL support for the original XBOX.

It appears I'll just wait a while, buy this PS3, pick up Payday 2 on it, and play online for free. Well played, Sony. Well played.

"And is it any different from the regular PS3?"
"Not really, but it's eye-melting blue!"
"Oh, alright then."

The red one I liked, but this blue is just ugh...

Or you could get the GTA 5 bundle for $270 that has 500GB of storage space, and also comes with GTA 5, and you also don't have to buy it from GameStop.
