Hotline Miami Live Action Film Seeks Crowdfunding

[vimeo=73000043]
An independent filmmaker wants to create a period piece to "create the most authentic and sexy film possible" in $50,000.

Neon lights, '80s cars, and a whole lot of blood are what filmmaker Saman Kesh wants in a Hotline Miami film. He's gone to IndieGoGo to crowdfund his new project, Hotline Miami: A Short Film. The film will follow the two characters Jacket and Biker as they search for answers to questions they each have - one about himself and one about his wife.

"This isn't going to be a fan-film, but rather, a short film designed for old and new fans alike. It's going to be a narrative ride just like the game is an interactive one," Kesh writes on the campaign website. "These emotionally disturbed characters have been fleshed out to feel real and human."

Kesh explains on the site how the $50,000 will be used. The camera they plan to use gives a cinema-like quality, and they lenses they plan to use will give the film more of an '80s feel. Other costs include special effects, post-production, paying the crew, paying for location costs, stunts, and period-accurate wardrobe choices.

Kesh's previous short film is The Controller, a film about "a girl that can control everything perpetrates her own rescue by taking control of her boyfriend." He has also worked on a video for English alternative rock band Placebo. To see his other work and to learn more about Hotline Miami: A Short Film, check out Kesh's IndieGoGo campaign. The Hotline Miami publisher and developer are not involved with the film.

This seems a bit reduntant, seeing as a "Hotline Miami" film already exists.

It's called "Drive". Watch it, 'tis pretty good.

Another day, another crowd-funding attempt for a fan-film of a game. It's getting rather stale now.

As already pointed out by other users here and even the game's creator in the past: Drive.

If they did do it, I could picture an Oldboy-like sequence where a violent one on many fight is shot in one take to the techno music.

You know...I don't really like where this film is going.

Jacket as an amnesiac, the "hotline miami" being just a hit service instead of being a
plan set up by the 50 Blessings to kill off the russian mob
, Jacket looking for a missing wife instead of killing for the thrill and then getting bored with it, I think it's taking a real turn for the cheesy, if you know what I mean.

True, they say it's not a "fan film", which implies that its not going to stay 100% dedicated to the source material, but I'm just feeling uneasy about this.
