Sony Says PS4/Vita Bundle Is "More Real By the Week"

Sony would be willing to work with retailers to bundle the PS4 and Vita together.

Arguably one of the most exciting features being offered by the PlayStation 4 will be the ability of gamers (with good Wi-Fi) to remotely play the console's games through their Vitas. That said, one question many have asked since the PS4/Vita's remote play was <a rhef=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/124426-Sony-Confirms-Vita-Remote-Play-For-All-PS4-Games>first confirmed, was whether or not the two game machines would be getting a bundle.

While Sony has previously stated that it has "no firm plans" to box the PS4 and Vita together, the company may now be warming up to the idea. "Seeing the consumer reaction and actually an upsurge in Vita sales immediately following <a href=http://www.polygon.com/2013/8/20/4640918/remote-play-shows-playstation-4s-vita-connection>[our Gamescom] demo was very encouraging to see," said Sony's Fergal Gara. Sony, in turn, could still conceivably launch a PS4/Vita bundle prior to the PS4's launch. "We could probably change our mind in the morning and still have it ready for launch to be honest so it's not a big decision. It's not a hard thing to do."

One method the company could consider would be a "soft bundle" that sold PS4 and Vita together for a package price but then delivered them as separate products. "Its very easy for us to work with [retailers] and say look lets create a package that contains PS Plus, Killzone: Shadow Fall, PS Vita, PS4, shall we do that? And they put it together as a bundle." In turn, if retailers themselves were interested in such a package, Sony would "support them to make it happen." None of this, of course, adds up to definite plans. That said, according to Gara, "the concept [of a bundle] is becoming more real by the week."

Why don't they make the ps4 eat those vita cartridges so people with a ps4 buy vita games and have an actual reason to get a vita and/or will still buy vita games even without a vita?
Why do console manufacturers always put a huge wall between their home consoles and handhelds like that?

Does anyone care enough about remote play to get a vita just for that?
Don't make me laugh.

I would love this if they put a good price on it. As much as I like my 3DS there has been a lot of stuff coming out for the Vita that has interested me, but I have not committed to getting a one just yet.

I bought a Vita for that exact purpose. Turns out there were some pretty good games on the thing as well (despite what everyone says), which was a pleasant surprise.

This would be a super genius move on Sony's part. Market the shit out of the remote play feature, then release a bundled PS4 and Vita for the same price as the XBone. Bam, instant money.

Granted, they'll probably be selling at a loss, but the attach rate for software and accessories should be more than enough to make up for it.

Second. It turn the vita from a want to a definite purchase for me. After all, you can also remote outside your house given you have a halfway decent connection. Besides, I've seen plenty of posts from people who said they had no plans to get a vita until it was confirmed to stream with all games

YoshiP announced that I get a free upgrade to the PS4 version of FFXIV:ARR AND that streaming is compatible with the Vita. Imma be MMOing all over my house from now on. :D

If the price was right, I could definitely see myself going in for this. I've already got a PS4 pre-ordered but I wouldn't consider an upgrade out of the question.

If I didn't already have a Vita I'd be all over this. Plus remote play is great.

Because they run on different hardware and software. They would need to either emulate the vita with the ps4 or include on inside it. It would be a very expensive decision and turn a lot of people off. They learned in the past that $550+ consoles do not sell all that well.
