Ryse: Son of Rome Live-Action Series The Fall Coming Next Month

Xbox One's roman epic gets a web-series to build hype for launch.

Microsoft and Machinima are teaming to create a live-action web series based on Ryse: Son of Rome. The four-part series will air on Machinima in the weeks leading up to the Xbox One launch November 22.

The announcement comes after a leaked teaser on Xbox.com [http://www.vg247.com/2013/10/25/ryse-son-of-rome-live-action-web-series-teased-by-microsoft-report/] apparently let the cat out of the bag last week.

Set in ancient Rome, Ryse: Son of Rome puts players in control of Centurion Marius Titus, who rejoins the army to get revenge against the barbarians who killed his family. As the name implies, The Fall seems to be a prequel revolving around the chain of events that put Marius back on the warpath.

Almost thought this was going to be one of those "Only on XBone" tv shows. I'm genuinely interested to see how that exclusive not-game content will work out for them.

Dont these marketing guys ever stop and wonder if its even worth it?

Why go this far to market a game that most people already made up their minds about it? Especially using tactics that have barelly anything to do with the decision of buying a game. If they need to make people want to play their roman hack and slash game by using a live action series why not just make a small deal with FOX to do a Spartacus marathon or something a week before the release of the game?
